Plugg Uncapped ADSL Feedback

As of last Friday, my star rating hadn't moved and was still on 2 stars.

I resumed my constant friday 12am to monday 6am download this past weekend which put me onto 1 star by sat morning. Even though I had 1 stars, performance was normal.

I will keep on using my account the same way that had me on a 4 star rating as before, but by the weekend I would have collected what I needed by then and won't have any need to do any constant downloading and will follow the 12-6am rule and will monitor the star situation, and update when necessary.

Looking at your account, still on 2 stars, you are still managing to do 9-15gigs per day this week. Your total usage so far for this month, 415 gigs (and the new tv season is only starting in september ;-)

What on earth are you downloading... it is not as if we are about to run out of Internet ;-)

What are your thoughts about an unotelly type service straight from the ISP?

EDIT: Are there legal issues?

Good question. I have actually forwarded this question to our legal guy for his opinion on the matter. Will let you know once he finds some time to respond.

Not complaining just communicating how my star rating recovers back to 4 stars after I abused it down to 1 star.

I have gone back to normal 12-6am scheduling which allows me 9 gigs per night and am almost finished what I needed to get which. HD adds up quickly :)

Having issues streaming from USA? Any issues I need to know about?

More specifically, from the US Open tennis website. Live stream is sticking like a mofo

Interesting that before last weekend, I was able to stream sport with no issues on my 1Meg account, but since Saturday evening I have not been able to do that without major frustrations.

My Speedtest is on about 22ms ping, 0.89 Mb/s, which is not great, but normal, and I am on 4 stars. Is there anything specific that would be causing it? I even looked at Resource Monitor to see if there was any other network traffic, but nothing was found - besides, that would've affected the speedtest anyway.

Any info would be appreciated.

Where are you streaming sport from? If it's dstv SuperSport, they often have server related problems that our ISP has no control over.

Sitting on 4 stars with a 2mb uncapped account but unfortunately I'm having terrible speeds.

Is there a problem?

I tried multiple Steam providers all of which are slow.
-South Africa - Johannesburg
-South Africa - Cape Town
-Australia - WA
-Spain & Portugal

Tried multiple other services.
-Youtube - 150kb's
-puu.sh - 50kb's
-imgur - 50kb's

I don't steam, but I have noticed shaping when the network is busy, even on 4 stars.

All should return to normal at 5pm.

Might have been a lot of traffic today or something coz I had a steam download going earlier nd it was battling to get over 300. Usually 400 isn't problem at all...

Youtube has been extremely slow today, sites timing out also. Currently sitting on 4 stars

All good here. Streaming twitch.tv fine at the moment. Have been streaming YouTube at 720p with no problems too. 4 stars

Hi Janitor

While I understand the need to shape P2P traffic during office hours, I dont think that I should be only able to download at 10 K/sec (edit: I was being optimistic, make it 5 K/sec) on a 400 K/sec connection.

I am currently on 4 stars, so unless the network is under so much strain that its about to fall over, I dont understand why traffic throughput is basically zero

Cheers :)

Getting incredibly terrible speeds today. Can barely open anything on 2mbps. Granted, I am on 2 stars, but I'm talking speed tests below 0.5mbps, and real world download speeds comparable to 56k modem (4-6kB/s). Google.co.za timing out, News24 takes a good 2-3 mins to load, searches don't even return results. Could barely log in here to post this. In the process of upgrading to 4mbps, but if this is the kind of speeds I can expect, I'm not sure I want to anymore.
