Plugg Uncapped ADSL Feedback

We are keeping an eye on things, but September going to be quite a busy month with all the new apple releases coming up and not to mention, tv season starting again in the US.

Just as a quick heads-up.

Due to Apple's latest release of their operating system (iOS7) earlier this evening, we saw a drastic increase in demand on the network, which in return means heavier shaping than normal.

We are closely monitoring the network and making adjustments to lesson the pain (shaping) where possible.

this would explain why I could hardly stream Netflix last night, when I usually stream at 720p :) Not too fussed though, will blow over.

Janitor, would you be able to give us some graphical idea of what load this is causing on the IS network? Like a graph or something?

cheers

Is the network still under heavy load? Trying to do a game update and I am getting 40kb/s on my 4m account.

Dropped to 1kb/s now

how many stars you on?

A good test for me to check if the network is busy is to fire up a download using a download manager from www.filehippo.com

Always a good indicator of network capacity on HTTP traffic

No idea about the stars, where do I check it? I switched to my free afrihost account now and getting 410kb/s

well in all fairness you not comparing apples with apples. that afrihost free account is a capped unshaped account

login to control panel on plug, and you will see it after you click on your active service

Found it thanks, am on 4 stars - really though 1kb/s is far slower than old dial-up. Surely I should be getting at least 200kb/s?

what are you downloading? (exactly) PM me the link and I will try my side if you want

the world and their wife are downloading tv series and iOS updates. Just be patient :)

Im peaking at 40 KB/sec on a HTTP multithreaded download on a 400 KB/sec

guess the network is busy ;)

Hey techead, I am downloading the latest update to Rift mmo game. I normally never download anything during office hours. Most of my downloads are scheduled to happen between 00:00 to 6:00am. However I am off till wednesday next week from work so want to play some Rift :)

MMO game updates are usually a combo of HTTP and P2P traffic... Im betting that its P2P :)

Switched over to my Afrihost account, speeds were too slow.

Star Rating * * *

Seems a little harsh. Shaping has definitely increased over the last few months.

I've also noticed a slow down recently - only during the day if I'm at home. Speedtest.net shows full speed but you can see a large difference in performance on other sites. Test streaming a YouTube video at 1pm vs. 8pm - there's a big difference. My account is showing 4 stars (6Mbps uncapped).

I've also been asking for this. I suggested a temp gauge like in your car when you know you about to blow a gasket :)

We have all been begging for improvements to be made to the website for quite a while now, Plugg have been so slow at that :(

Even Afrihost CAPPED is slow.

EDIT: 4mb line

EDIT 2: Sorry Afrihost, seems better now.

EDIT 3: No issues with Plugg at the moment either, and a much better ping.

EDIT 4: But straight after i get this, so it's truly dynamic:
