Plugg Uncapped ADSL Feedback

I swear these rules just chop and change. I read every slip of paper I touch and there was none of this star stuff when we signed up. Now... this is new and never been mentioned in all the questioning I've done before, that you get hit by a star if you have a second connection... gee that figures now. What a.... arrrgh... No no.... I'm walking away. Not going to even waste any more keystrokes on this one. Oh and I'm on 1 star... used under 120gigs. Yes... *wax on wax off.....*

I just need to find the time now to do some proper research - figure with the new (well, not so new), price cuts, I can probably have two connections going with a different SP and pay about the same anyway.

Thank you Plugg for alerting your customers about the RICA documents... not. How about sending out emails to your customers once in a while alerting them to things like this?

The new website seems to have lost a few functions, also can't upload RICA documents and your website security certificate is coming up with errors. On top of that, when we called in to ask about the RICA, my family member was given incorrect reasons on why RICA was being implemented, just state that it's SA government requiring it, don't beat around the bush. Also when trying to get the documents to Plugg, the guy on the phone gave his personal email address, not a company address. This is a massive security risk, official private ID documents are not to be sent to unsecure locations or those of employee personal accounts.

I would really love an audit of SA ISP's security practices as they have all our private information that is worth a lot of money to criminals. Please people, DO NOT submit official documents to private/personal accounts of employees! Only send to official company email addresses.

I'm posting this here for security of other users, only send to official email addresses.

Also this whole thing of changing star rules etc. is really taking the cake. We are now looking for other ISP's again. Plugg should post an official page with ALL the rules set out and if they change, that page should be updated. You are not providing transparent consumer information as the act requires.

I'm not saying that this particular employee would/could/thought of stealing the data but it's a security flaw that opens identity theft. Please people, DO NOT submit official documents to private/personal accounts of employees! Only send to official company email addresses. If still concerned, don't send and cancel.

Yeah, I saw that on the new site.

Did the time honored thing of ignoring until someone actually contacts me in earnest.

Figured it's some subscriber database flag that is now being exposed via the new front end.

Hi AfricanTech, yeah, searching on the RICA and ISP situation with google gives some articles on it going back to 2011 so its been in the works for sometime but suddenly now they implementing it and not alerting anyone yet they threaten to cut your access in 5 days if you don't send the documents.

This makes me wonder now actually about the other ISP's from a month or two ago all asking for ID documents etc. when opening new or trial accounts. They never knew explained the real reason and one actually froze on the phone while asking the reason for the ID and what security practices they had in place that it couldn't get stolen. I'm wondering if they just asked for that information without actually stating that it was for RICA? Is that even legal? Asking for ID documents without giving the real reason?

We have noticed this side speed was ok with Plugg over the holidays but after visiting back I can see why haha a lot have probably left. However the past couple days has dropped in performance so perhaps that's some overflow from promotions from other whitelabels or something, who knows.

Yeah, speeds were okay over the holidays - stars stuck solidly on 3 though despite sticking to the d/l time schedules.

I haven't been threatened with cutoff yet, so I think I'll wait until that happens - have an afrihost backup that I can switch to pretty quickly. With regard to sending to someone's personal email, that seems to be quite common with them - rather a casual lot over there.

Re: personal email... ouch *cringe*. We've asked for a company email rather just for keeping with our own methods of security or even a company fax number rather.

Ha, we've been on one star for most of December I think.

Straatkat, I'm also looking now, should be gone from Plugg in a week or two. Tired of fairy tale land rules.
