Plugg Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Not always hey Telkom works great with usenet 24/7 fullspeed if you are shaped or not but p2p with them is DEAD 24/7...

I had the R99 account since they launched it. I did about 160GB for a month and the start rating was actually 4 stars on the last day of the month.

I took the 10Mbps account yesterday and I share it with a friend. 1 x 10Mbps adsl line and 1 x 4Mbps adsl line and from 6pm last night until now we have done a total of 43GB and its currently only on 4 stars. So we lost only 1 star. That is to be expected cause its a 10Mbps account so the average usage would be higher. I will let you know once we hit 1 star cause we are pushing it to see what the limits are and the shaping is during the day on the different stars...

Yes you can see the star rating by logging in @ connection.co.za

I don't think you can compare the two and is the reason why I say that IS is the best of the rest, esp after work as they have different shaping policies, where it seems Telkom treat NNTP diff to P2P, IS don't, hence why I said it's a good reflection on the state of available capacity.

So we did about 94GB on the account in 2 days on still have 3 stars... Wow the average on the 10Mbps accounts are very high. We are barely losing any stars on it man. This is on the connection.co.za 10Mbps home account

hmmm... interesting...

On another note. Last night, fr the first time in a while I fired up Netflix and started watching House of Cards S01.

When I first started using Netflix about 6 months ago, I used to watch with my WDTV's "options" on. Small white writing in the top left corner, which included the streaming quality. My estimation would be that it would be on 480p and 720HD 99% of the time. It would spend about 75% on 480p and 25% on 720HD. One has to be paying damn good attention to notice the differernce between the two, they are both excellent.

Last night I was watching, and things were not going well. there were times when it peaked to 720HD, and times when it ran on 480p for length periods... but for the first time ever it was dropping to the two lowest levels. 280p and 384p (something like that)

These two levels are TERRIBLE to watch, really terrible quality. I paused a couple of times when it went down to 280p because it was just unbearable.

It looks like everyone is moving over to IS again.... ffs

I also have a WDTV and have experienced what you describing. I found some shows stream better than others, maybe too many people watching house of cards? I wouldn't panic just yet.

cavedog's updates are interesting indeed!

- 10 meg for R499
- two connections

Sounds like much better value than 4 meg for R429

cavedog, we will be monitoring with great interest

sauce?

sorry, just to be more clear we only have this confirmation from cavedog?

Yes it does actually. It means that if you share it with a friend you will not be affecting each other at all cause its a 10Mbps account and the fact that its way cheaper and the average is way higher meaning less shaping and less lost stars.....

I did notice something else last night.... I have a 2Mbps account that I decided to cancel after my friend and I decided to split the 10Mbps account. I shared the 2Mbps uncapped account on a nzb site. At one stage there were 6 people connected. Some reporting great speeds other reporting slower speeds.

It looks like the accounts are not actually limited in terms of concurrent connections but the speeds on the connections after the first 2 are just way slower.... Its something funny but very interesting

back to 3 stars account doing much better now..

as for netflix i had issues 2 nights back as well watch with my ps3 720p and super hd but that night 480 p and lower.

Finally lost another star and on 2 stars now. To be fair we did 139GB in only 4 days...... Shows you how high the average must be on the R499 p/m 10Mbps uncapped account must be....

And both connections going strong still?

I'd love to see a trace route or two if I post the item address?

I find that even if I stick to the "download window", my usage push me to a three star rating. I watched 4 hours of webcasts during the week and that just kills it.
