Anyone else experiencing very slow speeds? Browsing, nntp etc..

I had a quick look and not seeing any network related problems. I suggest you drop a line to [email protected] so that they can have a look and see what might be the problem. It would help if you give them a bit more information to help resolve your issue.

Will mail support and see what can be done, thanks.

The overall quality/speed of my connection has been great, and latency has also been consistently low, locally and internationally. But it does feel like international speeds have been slightly slower the last week or so.

(Certain videos on international sites stutter or don't load at all. For example, videos on Kotaku.com, thedailyshow.com or colbertnation.com take ages, whereas they almost loaded immediately in the past. Youtube works fine.)

There seems to be a problem with DNS and international connectivity currently. I have backup accounts with Afrihost, Cybersmart and Webafrica and they are fine, well didn't check Webafrica, so there seems to be an issue with IS at the moment, first time since Nov.

EDIT: Webafrica okay too

I'm having issues connecting to most sites / servers. Throughput is a mere trickle - I'm struggling to even get a directory listing from an FTP server! They bluff their way through speedtests, so that is not a very reliable indication of throughput. Hope it gets resolved soon - I didn't move from Afrihost for this! My other (very) limited capped accounts (WebAfrica and Afrihost) are ok.

4mb/s uncapped account on 10mb/s line.

Well I'm using GConnect uncapped and is atm not even usable.... Can't use it on my xbox 360. can't browse with it.

What burns my arse about ISP's is that they are always so slow to post it up in the notifications!

All Systems are functioning normally,

when clearly there is something wrong if this and the openweb thread and my personal experience is anything to go by.

Having issues too this side since lastnight. My ping tests show regular drop outs every few seconds and 30% connection success. Even google struggling. First time I've had these issues, any news?

I am having issues too. 4Mbps line

Speedtest result here:

http://www.speedtest.net/result/2433747502.png

Down: 1.88Mbps
Up: 0.44 (Which is almost normal)

Latency is almost normal at 20ms, but one in about 30 pings either time out or take ridiculously long, like 200+ms.

It started going slower and slower since about a week ago. At R842 this is not worth it at the moment.

I have already mailed support on January 6th - 7 days ago. No response yet.

There is currently an issue on the network (causing additional latency) and it is being addressed.

It would seem that some of our IPC links suddenly stopped receiving traffic from SAIX. We have shut those down whilst waiting on feedback from SAIX.

Things should be returning to normal, appreciate if you could test and let me know.

Thanks.

Sigh cant get onto playstation network at all and most sites don't load. Plugg should really notify their customers with twitter or mail or something of issues sooner.

I have put in a request for cancellation cos apparently on top of the issues their having I am getting throttled being in the top 20% of users with an average usage of 8gb a day. The trial accounts they offered which got me to become a customer was false advertising imo cos the account I have now doesn't perform the same, ah well went from afrihost(bad service) to plugg (ok to bad service) so things cant get worst. Think i'll give telkom a try(Cant believe I am resorting to that).

Wont you just drop me an email '[email protected]' with your username. I would like to have a look before responding.

Thanks

This is absolute nonsense and should not happen. There are more than enough support staff on duty, and emails should not be falling through the cracks.

Please just drop me an email ([email protected]) with your account details, maybe a copy of the email you sent to them as I would like to follow up.

Thank you.

Hi Janitor, many thanks for the feedback on the situation. It would be nice though for some form or "realtime" or near realtime network status either updates via twitter or a dedicated web address to check on issues, saves us time in working out locally if we have issues (ie hardware, software etc). This has been the first big connection issue since signing last year so I'm still happy but hope it doesn't happen much further, hopefully the SAIX issue doesn't grow. Looking forward to hearing more on the SAIX feedback. Things this side have slightly picked up, will keep monitoring between supper. But a big improvement from earlier today.
Thanks again.
