Plugging portable Aircon into simple wall outlet

Hi .I will be buying a portable AC for regular use and a air cooler/fan for loadshedding (via a UPS) ...

1. Upto what btu can I put the portable AC(or say a split wall AC) into the normal wall outlet and above which btu will I have to plug into a dedicated-circuit wall outlet..?..I read somewhere as 24000 btu but somewhere else as 12000 btu , so not sure on this .
2. How do I determine which wall outlet is simple one and which has dedicated circuit..?..is it that dedicated one has no adjacent wall outlet to it or is it that dedicated one has slightly bigger size or any other way to know it .?
3. For the loadshedding use, I am confused between air cooler and fan...air cooler provided more cooling but I can't keep windows open as all dust will come in ..has anyone successfully used air coolers with all windows closed and still got more cooling than a tower fan and more importantly , is it safe to do so..?..

you can load the wall socket circuit with anything you like up to the designated rating ie 16 amp .an 18000 btu runs at around 7 amp if gassed properly ,if overgassed around 9 amp .so if you have 3 sockets on the circuit try keep the use of the other 2 to a minimum while doing the air-conditioning thing .
 
Deye has portable inverter ACs that run on solar for free during the day..

The problem is that starting price is around 15k rand (almost triple the price.) and it isn't portable one..it is the split AC type with seperate compressor unit..

You can run any aircon from an inverter, as long as:

0)the inverter MUST be pure sine
1) you do not exceed the VA rating of the inverter, bearing in mind AC units have low power factors and are inductive loads (i.e., the reactive current should always be less than half of the inverter's rating at ALL times)
2) your inverter's output L and N are isolated from eskom input
3) the inverter output neutral is ground tied, but only when the inverter is NOT in bypass mode (this is what the relay terminals are for at the bottom of the inverter)
