Pokemon Go!

So my kid and his buddies trawled Broadacres Shopping Centre since Saturday and he has now a few Pikachu (spawned), hatched Kangaskhan, Snorlax and Lapras from 2km eggs (the Kangaskhan was last night when we took the dog for a walk). The most exotic hatched I got is a Jynx (but I did get a few Pikachu two weeks ago).

He just IMed me and one of his buddies hatched the Mime version.... (when I checked over the weekend, I did have 121 in Pokedex - almost all hatched during morning runs).

Are you sure he hatched them from 2KM eggs? Those are 10KM egg Pokemon :erm:

Just asked and he said that the Kanga was a 5km egg, the others were 10km eggs using those limited incubators. I can not recall hatching anything special ever from a 5km/10km egg.

I wish people would think of other team members when taking a gym.
if you are adding to a gym, try to make sure the first pokemon in the gym is easy to beat.

imagine this gym.
1200CP pincir at the bottom.
5 or 6 other pokemon above that to hold the gym for the team.

a new person from your team wants to come and add to the gym, they take a 100CP pidgeyot. and beat the pincir. run from the next battle. heal pidgeyot. fight pincir. repeat 4 times, add pokemon to the gym that is higher than the pincir.

beating a pokemon with higher CP than your pokemon gives the gym 500 pristige, to add a poke needs 2000 prestiege, so 4 battles like that and you beat it.

now imagine the gyms we see.
200CP ponyta, 700CP rhydon, 1400CP vaporeon, 1500CP arcanite.
how do you add to the gym? you take your best guy and fight all the way though. it takes you 20 min and you get 500prestiege, and you need to heal your 2000CP vaporeon

be nice people. leave bug type pokemon at the bottom of the gym, even if it is not your best pokemon, and all you can add is a 150CP weedle, fighting that with a 120CP pidgey is better than the fight with the 200CP ponyta, no one has waterpokemon under 200cp

this is more impenetrable than the fkn stats assignment I tried to do last night.... :D

one problem with your logic here is how long do you think your pokemon is going to last on that gym...

tldr, make sure the first pokemon in a gym is bug type. not because other teams will stuggle against bug, but because then YOUR team members will add to the gym more often.

Majority of the gym's I've seen tend to be packed with something like this...
200CP ponyta, 700CP rhydon, 1400CP vaporeon, 1500CP arcanite.

I have 7 gyms I fight for every night. there are no other mystics in the area to add to it after the Fiance and I have taken it.

I have 3 gyms that I claim for every day without needing to fight at all. all those gyms started as a diffrent team, the Fiance and I took them, then my brother and his friend added to them.
bottom pokemon was a bug type. the 4 of us fought the bug with a lower CP flying type 5 or 6 times each.

when the 4 of us left those 3 gyms, there were 4 open spots ready to be added too. drive by adds as I call them.

all 3 those gyms now have 8 pokemon in them, and the lowest in the one I can remember best is the 400CP pincir my brother left in there. the highest is a 1500CP nidoqueen I left (last time I checked it at least.)

so you can hold down a gym for many days, provided its not close to many pokestops and GPS spoofers do not take it back, average users will struggle to take the gym back unless there is more than 2 of them fighting at the same time.

exactly the problem I am talking about.
this is the problem, now it will take me 20 min to add to the gym instead of 5 min. I am not going to add.
when I do spend the time to add to a gym like that I leave a bug pokemon to be the bottom (153 weedle or whatever)
then the Fiance and I can fight the gym and add her to it quickly, sometimes we add another weedle that is higher than mine, so one pidgey can beat both and thus getting 1000 prestiege per go.

I'm starting to get the idea that you need a few people with you to hold a gym for a while.

Levelling it up on your own will never really work out too well.

ideal group size is 8. two cars full of people of the same team.
4 can fight a gym at the same time.
then the person who is the lowest level adds their best CP bug type to the gym.
everyone fights the bug with a bird, and the next lowest person adds another bug.
once you have 2 bugs down that the rest of the group can beat with a single bird, the other 6 people add real defenders to the gym.

6 strong pokemon defending a gym with 2 low bug types is better than one high CP pokemon.

I have taken out a gym with the following:
1900CP Arcanine, 2300CP snorlax, 3200CP Dragonite.
it was at Flora farm on saturday mornign while having breakfast. I took it down on my own.

if there was one more pokemon over 1600CP in that gym I would not have been able to to it on my own.

and this is what I mean.
put in a bug, then electric, then rock, then water, then grass then fire then the big dragonite/snorlax/laprass
just to make it difficuilt for an attacker to take the gym, vary the types. there is no one pokemon that can slice though all of that, even if it is 3 times the CP.

yes sure you might be able to keep it but is your bros 400cp going to stay on there long is the real question

I already did the Rainer Eevee trick back before we knew about IV and now I have a 97.8% Eevee and I already know the game isn't going to give me a Vaporeon.

its still there. and it has been for almost a week.

to knock out the bottom pokemon you have to beat EVERYTHING in the gym once...

I have a Jolteon named Rainer. I feel your pain dude.

honestly, dont rename it, and see what RNGusus gives you.

The last time I went on a evolve spree I had 4 Eevees and 100 candies and I got 4 Jolteons back to back.
