Pokemon Go!

I tried a bot for sh*ts and giggles; got pretty far before it got banned :D

Still have my normal account but I haven't been nearly as active as I could have been :(

Yep, they have started issuing permanent bans from what I've read. Apparently legal action is been taken against the bot creators

It's related to the Unknown6 key, sort of a digital signature that the 3rd-party API developers are as of yet unable to crack.

From the sounds of things the bots are still appearing on the Niantic server side as too 'perfect' to be actual humans playing the game. In real life you might have patchy GSM signal, erratic GPS signal due to buildings and structures, etc and for all we know Pokemon Go grabs info from your phone gyroscope and accelerometer to determine whether it is actually in use or just a bot scouring for Pokemon.

Interesting discussion about it going on on Reddit at the moment :)

The problem I have that the people that did use bots and did not get caught, are way ahead of everyone that did not. There is so many people here in Potchefstroom that have 3000cp dragonites and Gyarados. I have not seen a dratini and everyone I talk to at the favourite pokestop in town say the same, as well as a magickarp that I only saw once.

What really piss me off that there is a river running right through the town, been to 3 dams in the area and fokkol. So what am I to do. I actually thought of botting for this reason.

I live in London. There are Pokéstops every 50 metres. But all I see every day are rats and pigeons at level 21. Yeah, sure, I see the odd Magikarp or whatever, but nothing at the rate that would get guys to level 35+ with 3000+ Gyarados on a gym. Considering the painfully slow rate at which one levels up, it's almost impossible to do it legitimately.

So yeah, was feeling pretty bleak, and considered cheating "just to see what would happen". But then I hatched a Snorlax, and later on caught my first Snorlax in the wild. Sure, it's so much easier to cheat and get everything while you're asleep, but where's the fun in that?

A guy showed me an app today, that can catch pokemon anywhere and loot stops without having a GPS activated. Will they be able to ban these guys if they don't have a GPS activated?

The app will spoof GPS data.

I think people should try and identify gyms that have been taken over by bots, join up and take them down.

To my surprise I took a Gym with no fighting. There was nobody there and there always used to be somebody controlling the Gym. Strange ?

From what I've been reading, only 20-30% of the bots have been removed, a high number of them are believed to be the actual bot developers that took them down.
