Pokemon Go!

I hatched a Lapras from a 2km egg. Only got 9 candy though.
If I knew, I would put more focus in the 2km eggs.

Instead I caved and incubated my 4 10km eggs I was saving till I only had 10km in order to take advantage of the double candy.

I am also thinking of hatching my 3,10km eggs.....should i rather only hatch 2 km?

I would think so. Rather hatch the 2km and get them rotating, less distance and you can get 10km pokemon.
I hatched some random pokemon before the Lapras. After incubating my 10km eggs going for the candy, the lapras hatched.
Then it was too late. I have only been using the infinity incubator for the 2km eggs, used the limited use to hatch 5km and then 10km ones. Don't have any left, no coins either.

Difficult situation this, they obviously want us to spend money on more incubators. The problem with the "bang for buck theory" is that you do not get a guaranteed 'good' pokemon and you go through incubators a lot quicker with 2km. Currently I have hatched 11 2km and had only 2 good hatches. A lapras and a girafarig. The rest was the usual trash, so its difficult to say use your paid for incubators.

Just wanted to share, my mother-in-law to be started playing on Monday, and less than 48 hours later she is already on level 18! That is quite quick not so?

Took me three months to get to level 22, granted I haven't played everyday and often do not get around to it for days.

Also, reading the last few pages of this thread, it seems you guys are catching a lot of Pokemons I've never seen or heard of before. Are the types of Pokemon you encounter dependent on your location? (Sorry, I assume this is a basic/stupid question I could probably google, or it has been discussed here before, but difficult to read through 200+ pages!).

At the moment, my Pokedex is at 104/127 and I'm struggling to get new types - everywhere I go it is just Mankeys, Growlithes, Ekans or Pidgeys...and Snubbulls, Houndours and Murkrows if you are lucky. My last few egg hatches gave me Psyduck and Togepi but that was it, as far as new stuff goes!

there are different Biomes.
sounds like you are in the desert Biome like I am.

you want to go catching somewhere different.
you want to try and find a lake or river that has a few pokestops

where are you?

I'm in Centurion. Play mostly in Rooihuiskraal/The Reeds...we went to Montecasino, where a few other types were also encountered, but as I say it gets to a point where we struggle to find new ones, it's the same stuff over and over again.

At work (Lanseria Airport) there is only one Pokestop at the terminal, but I work on the other side of the airport so no action for me...

We will be in Paarl & Cape Town next week, hopefully we will encounter many new (for us) types there...

Any tips on locations that you might have for me?

How old is she?

I could suggest somewhere even closer, sandton is a good place, flora farm (boksburg) seems to be an on and off a good place. But the rare stuff is well rare...you are going to be hunting your butt off...very literally...if you aren't a lazy hunter.

The game has a lot of randomizers built in so, one day could be rubbish any the next amazing, but basically the game works on cell data, so places that get more cell traffic, would most likely get the best spawns. So for your cape town trip VA waterfront all the way.

I am also in Centurion.
first things first, go spend some time at the Bird Sancuary in Groenkloof. only place you will find a different biome.
another option is Centurion mall, there are some water spawns there, but maybe 1 in 15 spawns are water.

Next up, keep an eye on the silph road nest atlas.
PTA bot gardens, 14 pokestops, loads of spawn points, but is currently a diglet nest, so wait a week or two...
Zita park, 6 pokestops decent spawn points, currently Machop nest unfortunately.

Thank you so much - will definitely try the above!

Any specific spots in Sandton? I assume a place like Sandton City would be a good place?

Yes and No, mandela square and the surrounding area is a good place to start, but you'll notice that (during week days at least) there are a number of places that spawn good spawns. Personally i have caught 2 larvitars, 2 dratinis infront of the michelangelo hotel poke stop and 2 dragonites, a blastoise and a charizard at the back of it at the foutain pokestop.

But when you get there, you'll notice that you can plot a trail for yourself from the RMB buildings through the street markets towards Sandton city, which would at least provide you with a good number of pokestop spins
