Pokemon Go!

you guys on the hype train now after the APK mine of 0.79.2? sound files added to the game.

it was a bad update, and I rolled back to 0.79.1 already (curve ball bug)

but I see this morning they released 0.79.3 so maybe that fixes the bug?

I see at least the Ghost type Pokemon being in the game for the Halloween event.

Im definitely on the hype train with this new update, I have been bored with the game for a while now.
0.79.3 does indeed fix the curveball bug, its much smoother now

I am going to wait for natural roll out this time.
I have a feeling there will be a 0.79.4 midway though this week.
just a feeling, nothing backing it up.

also, I think the main focus on these updates is quickfire changes to anti cheat measures (found in 0.79.2) to stay ahead of spoofers.

I see spoofing being eliminated by the haloween event.
the spoofing subreddits and discord channels are going ape about it.

and they are already putting things in place to hide apps from pokemon go,

so my prediction:
midweek update will disable the method used to hide root, some legit players will be very upset when the forced roll out happens.
this update will include magisk to the blacklist of apps. though the list of apps is held server side at the moment.

I think its going to be a very interesting few weeks to come.

And yeah, we will probably see a new update this week or early next week with the gen 3 moves/abilities.

I do not see abilities coming in 2017. there is too much work to do. plus Hanke said 2018 for that.

another reason i am not updating is because I want to keep using Calcy IV, and I am not 100% sure it is safe and not on the blacklist yet.

I'm just glad there is going to be something to do in game again other than simply setting my own goals to attempt to make the game fun. Catching those damned pidgeys and rattata is getting seriously overrated.

while waiting for new content I highly reccomend solo'ing level 3 raids.

so Far, I have completed Machamp only. but I know mathmatically Arcanine and Gengar are also possible.

I am about 100K stardust away from being able to do alakazam. and the eveelutions are just not worth it to try (you need to be level 40 with pretty much perfect IV pokemon to get it down)

I dont think I will solo an Arcanine ever, a wasted raid pass is better than another Arcanine in my dex TBH.

Soloing certain (lvl 3) raids are simply not a option for some of us, machamp is an example. I have 2 1600 alakazam's, one received from a raid and 85 candy, one 1900 gengar and one espeon 2200, with not much candy to power another one up. My best bet is powering up my army of exeggutor. But that's going to cost a fortune in startdus as the worthwhile ones are 1600's and i simply see them as not as effective as alakazam's/espeon. I tried a couple of times, but i always fall short

Machamp is the easiest.
Because you can get akazam from raids and power them up easily.

My wife and I are on the akazam mission now so we can power up her and machamp counters so she can solo a machamp.

When we have the machamps we need we will power them up so we can dueo a ttar.

Should take like 2 weeks.

Let me put this into perspective for you. On a good day i work 8 hours, on a average day 10, a bad day 12+, i spend roughly 3 hours a day traveling, 1 hour every second day training and the other other preparing food. Then there is the 8 hours sleep thing if i'm lucky, so if you take a average day calculation of 10 + 3 + 1 + 8 = 22 Hours. That does not leave much headroom for additional traffic, relaxing before sleeping eating or playing pogo for that matter. Weekends it is either catching up on admin which i had no time for in the week, restocking on supplies and the spending time with the other have, which does not include playing pogo as she hates the game, i actually think shes despises it. So yes, some of us simply cannot and do not have the time, I have often thought because of these reasons to start spoofing, but then, we all know how I will get treated then.

your life is imbalanced, dont blame pogo for that.

I spend an half hour in traffic in the mornings. I use that time to get my first spin and catch a few things with the go plus.
then I spend 8 hours at work, pogo open, go plus connected. every hour I recconect, every 2 hours I go for a smoke, restart the game and reconnect the go plus. and go spin the gym and pokestop that I cant reach from my desk.

after work I take the gautrain, then we plan a raid for the drive from hatfield to our house. so days it works out that we do not go out of our way in order to do 4 or 5. but most days we do 1.

usually we are home by 6:30 or 7, and start making dinner. some nights we even go gym hunting after dinner, just because we can.

if you are spending 3 hours a day traveling for work, and you are working 2 or 4+ hours a day extra, you need to sit down and re look at what it is you are doing.

I was in a similar situation, working over time, being stuck in traffic in and out of sandton (when not on the bike) and then I made a call and changed that.

no point in earning a massive salary if you never get to live your life, or see the family you are working so hard to provide for. just like the people who play non stop for 8 to 10 hours a day do not have a balanced life, I dont think you do either, and it has nothing to do with the game.

I actually powered another 3 dragonites up to 3K CP to be able to solo level 3 raids easier, throw in some other super effective mons and I should be able to solo most level 3 raids (but havent tried yet)

I don't even have a dragonite... Much less three...
Working real hard to turn my buddy into a Gyrados. It's slow going. Real slow.

i would really recommend getting a go plus for grinding, tracks distance while driving/traffic etc
plus you get distance from gps drift when your screen is off <- that alone gets me hatching more eggs with me just sitting at my desk :D

I realize my life is not "balanced", part of the reason i spend 3 hours in traffic is to be able to actually go to a real gym. I have sat down and said to myself that their are more important things in life than a game, hence i do not throw a tantrum if i cannot play the game weekends, endure the traffic to be able to get a healthy-ish life style in, spend about a hour cooking not to eat crappy takeaways. In fact 3 hours in traffic probably allows me to play more pogo :)

depends on the Raid tbh.

I use pokebattler to figure out the best team, and the right order.
and I use this little site to figure out to what level I need to power up.

no point in making an alakazam level 33, when you can get 2 of them to level 30 instead (provided they have 15 attack)

I work out breakpoints quite often, and because of that I have my renaming set up to be the attack IV,def Iv, HP IV, attack type attack type then pokemon level
also because I work in web dev, I have my IV's set in HExadeciamal. so an alakazam I have is: BBD pp 30.5 (11/11/13 psycic/psycic level 30.5)

using those tools together, I can work out what I need to power up in order to solo gyms.

10 mins of effort, leads to an achievement that keeps the game interesting for me.

if that works for you then that is awesome stuff man.

I hate traffic, that is why I own a bike. turn an hour trip into half an hour trip.
and those days where traffic is really bad, and you spend 3 hours driving home, stay half an hour trips.

the way I see it the risk of dying because of some other idiot on the road is the same in a car or on a bike. and the extra time I gained from less time in traffic gives me extra time with the wife.
I also took a long hard look at where I was working, and what I was earning, and spending on petrol, and changed jobs, now I work closer, but I earn less, but I have more money at the end of the month.

I respect your outlook dude, and I hope you stay away from spoofing, if you want to play pokemon from your couch, rather play one of the DS games, they are better games anyway.

Halloween event started at 9pm tonight, went out and about for an hour...lots and lots of Shuppets, Duskulls and Drowzees around, quickly got Shuppet and Duskull and evolved them into Banette and Dusclops, quite easy to do so since you only have to catch 5 of each to evolve (50 candy needed for each, so if you use Pineapple berries it goes fast since you earn double candy with the event)

Also got Sableye and Pikachu with the halloween hat.
