Best thing for this is to join one of the sightings groups, else you are going to look for a very long time.

Alternatively if you wish to go at it alone, there was a article on pokemongohub on catching ditto trick. Some of them i did not know.
One for instance is that the new nearby filtering system applies a rarity check, so if you see a pidgey or rattata at a pokestop further up the list than a lotad for example, there is a good chance its a ditto. Another would be to check the weather and check whether there is a mon that is either boost when in should not be boosted or the other way around. So for example yanma being boosted in partly cloudy weather or a gastly not being boosted in cloudy weather

My biggest challenge is ghost type and ditto!!!!!!! the rest ill be fine with. any ideas where i can go? I'm in Pretoria (Wonderboom) area but I don't mind traveling.

Join some of the PTA raids if possible- you get to visit a lot of stops and gyms that way- more to spin and more things to catch, so a higher overall chance of success, I would guess. I got most of my ghosts in the Brooklyn and Pierre van Reyneveld (Irene village mall) areas, and the Ditto that I required I caught at Irene mall as well.

Chances are though that the nests I encountered have migrated- but I'm not very clued up on such aspects of the game.

nests migrate every 14 days, there was a migration on thursday.

so far the only confirmed nests in pretoria is a new one in moreletta that is an abra nest.

that is the best way to find ghosts
 
At long last - i have my ditto! :D only took +/- a month :wtf:

now - whats the best way to battle in 10 raids :o i do like one a month and that's only if i have time
wasnt there a shortcut for this task ? do i go in and get beat then just rejoin or something ?
 
Seems there's going to be integration between Go! and the new Pokemon game on the Switch which could be interesting, or a complete disaster...
 
I love this app / game, and consider myself addicted...yes, I know, its 2018 and Im still playing it.
