Policeman Gunned Down

I'm barred from joining the reservists due to occupation. But I have joined the CPF. Fudzy, you can too...

Its time they bring back the commando's, another of the brilliant ideas from our esteemed prez. Close down the commandos (I think that is the english name, in afrikaans its kommando)

Coincidentally, there were 2 police officers from Woodstock police station at our house last night; they came to take a report for my nephew's car that was broken into. Their mood too, was a bit sombre. When asked why, one of them related this very incident. First time that I heard about it; I didn't even see or hear any news about it before that.

In a way I understand the demolishing of the Comando's

60% Of them just didn't do nothing. However They helped allot in the farming community ! The pres. should have maybe tried to regulate it instead of killing it !

If 100 000 people joined the reserv. I can promise you this country will change.

@Fudzy

You want freedom but don't want to fight for what is yours, Your family, Your friends.

Your 1 of those people sitting in the lounge @ night complaining about crime and on the other hand hope it doesn't happen to you. If it does you blame everyone but yourself.

Just think about what you want and what your saying

Unless these guys take the bull by the horns and sort out their inefficient and corrupt buddies.

I've been harrased by the police at a border post - I guess they wanted a bribe.

They "inspected" my car to check if it was'nt stolen. But they took their time doing nothing. After 15 minutes - and stacks of cars with "previouslys disadvantaged occupant" being waved through, I started complaining. Then they threatened to lock me up...

I guess my threats of reproting them to head office and picking up my cellphone saved me.

The government must allow us to take up arms and fight for what is right.

I think it's everyone's duty to join the reserv. !
What do you guys think ?

The government needs to change the law to actually allow people to take action. In a situation like this it should be perfectly legal to shoot criminals on sight, we no longer live in a civilised country.

Well, that was quick... funny how we only see results when it's one of their own.

Syndre: Security-related. I'm not a super ninja commando tactical response dude. I'm just a developer working in the security industry. Apparently the rules prohibit anyone working in the industry from becoming a reservist, though.

Oh ok I suppose its seen as a conflict of interest. I know, it bugs me the way there seems to always be a massive manhunt if something happens to a cop but they can't muster the same effort for the rest of us.

I agree with Pitbull, they should repeal the new gun law and make it easier to own a firearm

As for reservist regulations regarding the security industry here is what our regulations state

The following persons may not be appointed as reservists

a security officer or guard or a person attached to a private
security organisation (whether as director, partner or employee);

The South African Reserve Police service.' National Instruction -1/2002-
Crime Prevention
Issued by Consolidation Notice 9/2006

I own a perfectly legal Compound bow and ooo It can kill... very very easy.

No License needed :D

What I mean is you should be able to use it as soon as someone is on your property, not once you've already been attacked etc.

R/SGT: yeah, I fall under employee unfortunately. :(

I hear you on making it easier to own a firearm. All that needs to bve done is to drop the relicensing requirement and start issuing licenses at speed. Also to stop denying licenses arbitrarily. I have no problem with the new law beyond that. It's mainly the implementation that gets to me.

The law as written doesn't support disarmament, but it's being misused by a few politically motivated managers as a disarmament tool. That should not be allowed. :mad:

Arming civilians just makes the cops' work easier, and gives them backup if things go bad.

Leitmotif have you approached your local station as they can sometimes work around this?

Years ago some guys who wanted to join the reserves made a ruckus because they were turned away due to the length of their hair. Pure sexism since females can have long hair. Instead of changing a stupdi rule they turned away people willing to give their time and risk their lives to help.
