Tweet from Steve Martin... "To commemorate Obama's victory, I'm having a tea party." :D

4 more years of lame duck.

Pity.

Well, as the saying goes - Romney would not win because Obama is such a good Republican. This is the first time in a long time when there was a good fight for a second term. Usually this election goes to the incumbent without much hassle. Obama got a good scare. I wonder why.

Why do people care so much about the US elections?

We are affected far more by what happens in Europe and no matter who rules the US we'll get much of the same.

It irks me a little that everything American is seemingly forced on us.

Can someone explain why california and texas are worth so many electoral votes compared to the other states?

Every state gets a minimum of 3 plus pro rata based on population. So the smaller states benefit from everybody having at least three...otherwise a state with 1/20th of Califirnia population would have 3 votes instead of the 6 they get.

Not really without too much hassle...remember Bush had the war on terror behind him

In Obama's case, did he really get so much of a scare? Perhaps he may have been too complacent to start off given what the republicans were offerring as alternate early on, then he had to take Romney seriously.

Let's face it, he has high unemployment against him and no war to fall back on (or backing off on war) so the electors actually saw through that and knew and trusted that he was doing the right thing on both fronts and the economy was actually improving...and had been saved by him.
Perhaps the voters are not that stupid.

Because America makes it so damn fun to watch, debate, forecasts, realtime voting updates. The election process is so ****ing awesome, results within a day (sometimes hours) of the booths closing.

Red vs Blue, sensationalized, mass media, technology driven elections - it's awesome!

You guys consume the wrong media.

It'll be a Romney landslide. Not that he's my choice (can't stand his policies) but the people are fed up with Obama. He did keep one campaign promise - doggy for the girls.

I'm genuinely curious to hear what you have to say now.

CNN now reporting an Obama lead in the popular vote.

Excellent. FOX, Rove, Trump et al are all having minor strokes. And so is the animal on top of Trump's head.

You're lying to yourself if you think the US still doesn't matter.

There is still hope for America after all.

Judging by popular vote it is not that cut and dry. According to CNN's latests stats;

Obama - 50,544,455 (49%)
Romney - 50,431,244 (49%)

Just that Obama won the states that count the most.

Thanks for the insight! Next time try and use unbiased media to make judgements instead of the pro-conservative media like fox news. That said most conservatives were already saying it looked like Obama would win it (although they hoped differently), so I'm not sure what your sources were but don't use them again.

Depends on if the Republicans want to play ball this time. Obama is also dealing with a country in a much better place then the first month or so when he took over, so I'm going to guess he will do a 'better' job this term.

Yeah, I like the way they covered it and all the information they provided. Its also nice to watch an actual battle for presidency happen not like the farce we have here where there is only one obvious winner not because of the party or leadership or even policies but because of race.

The popular takes longer to tally. Lets see in a day when all the results are in.
