I am sure it is a standard feature on Jetta's since 1992. Just sad that none of the window winder motors on Jetta's last more than 3 years.

My brother drives a 2006 Opel Astra, do his windows also lock when he locks the door or is it certain models?
Thats odd - my wife bought a Polo Vivo 1.4 and the doors on her car automatically lock within a few seconds after driving off. Perhaps phone the dealership and ask them about it - its probably an option that can be enabled.

When you unlock the car, press and hold the unlock button and the windows will go down.
When you lock the car, press and hold the lock button and the windows will go up.

It's just an ECU programming job. They call it an additional "feature" meanwhile the feature is just deactived. The doors already have remote locking so all they need to do is hook up the car to their system and config the system to use auto-lock, same with auto-windows, etc.
The reason some people have the feature and others don't is usually related to manufacturing batches and how they "feel" in the morning. VW might say it's going to cost you but it's more than likely a quick tweak. To bad it's on motorplan otherwise you could go to someone else and have it switched on for a small fee.
Check with VW though, you never know.

Vivos don't come with a maintenance plan so he should be safe

I'm also inclined to think that it's just a software setting to enable auto-lock. Doors lock when you go above ~20 km/h. As for auto-up windows with the 9N Polo - possible, but only with a 3rd party module to change the coding (note that I haven't tested this myself).

True - on most new cars you can enable or disable autolocking.
What you should remember is that the Vivo is an old Polo, so you cannot compare it to modern cars. Also, it is a VW, so the only stand feature it comes with is a long list of optional extras

Don't worry. They will not hijack her. Those cars are like Citi Golfs. Not worth the effort. They will rather steal them when yo9u are not around. So instead of making sure she locks the doors, make sure she puts it in a safe.....
Very nice little cars. The auto-lock feature only comes with the optional alarm/immobiliser - before you say "i have an immobiliser already" there is an extra option on the Vivo's for around R1400 - this adds the feature which locks the doors when you pull-away and also unlocks them when you remove the key from the ignition.
