Hi All.

Those with car knowledge, please help.

I have been searching for a car since Jan. I got the following to choose from:
  1. 2018 VW polo tsi 1.2 C/L
  2. 2017 Ford Fiesta 1.0T Trend
  3. 2018 Corsa 1.0T enjoy
My budget is R200k. This will be my first bank financed car.
I will be driving 60KM daily, one long distance trip in 3 months.
I am looking for a nice looking, reliable, low maintenance, fuel efficiency, affordable insurance i am 25 :(
And I would like to keep the car for at least 10years.

Thanks.

Hyundai 1.4 Fluid not older than 2017 so you still have the long warranty.. or if little bit more can recommend the new shape Elantra, drives like dream

Those are all decent cars. I prefer the Corsa to the Fiesta personally and I don’t think I’d go Polo due to theft/hijack risk.

What are the respective motor and service plans for each vehicle?

Truth be told the Hyundai i20 is overpriced mediocrity compared to the three cars OP mentioned. It is bare bones basic motoring that does not even come close in terms of features compared to the others.

Of the three OP mentioned the Corsa is the least expensive when new, I would go for that just because of the price, but all three are good cars. Insurance is going to kill you on the Polo, add to that the hijack risk and it is between the Corsa and the Fiesta.

Polo is 3yrs/45Km service plan and 4yrs/60KM warranty
Fiesta 4yrs/60KM service and 5 Year/120 000km warranty
Corsa is 3 Year/60 000km Service Plan; 5 Year/120 000km warranty

Out of those 3 I vote Corsa. Pass on the Fiesta as it's the old shape with decade old interior.

Corsa will have higher spec than the Polo.

Why are you limited to these three cars?
Can't you add a Suzuki Swift?
At R200,000 you could also look at a Suzuki Ignis.

Just watch for any exorbitant on-the-road charges!

All the cars mentioned are proper cars, which seems to say something about OPs character, I doubt Ignis will appeal to him/her.

Corsa would win it for me, then the Fiesta.

I'd also consider something from Hyundai.

Oh my God!
Are you saying that the Swift or Ignis doesn't play in the same ball park?

Care to justify that with your expert knowledge!

I'm waiting for the Champs reply in great anticipation.
Our guys have driven many "****-boxes" to do collections and deliveries in seriously shyte conditions and the one that always delivers was Suzuki.
If he says that it is not a proper car, I would like to know why.
Hey Champ! Speak to me.

I'm here in my personal capacity not in representing the courier company, the Swift and backup cannot be matched from Suzuki

I wouldn't say the Swift is not a proper car but with the new gen it now plays in the budget segment. The ignis is just too small to even consider in this scenario.

The cars OP mentioned are not considered budget vehicles.

The Swift doesn't have many modern features that you going to find in the other vehicles.

I think if you wanted to recommend a Suzuki product it should have been the Baleno.

No, no expert knowledge here, just common knowledge available to everyone.
All three mentioned are turbocharged cars with decent amount of power and torque, all three have 6 airbags and a host of safety features befitting of the OPs character. All three are spacious car and the dimension all look nice, when last did you have a look at the Ignis?

Lastly they all look the way a car was intended to look, proper, the Swift at least tries ( previous gen) and the Ignis, let us just be nice and say it is an acquired taste.

Amen Brother Sumen, Amen.

I think the OP wants something mainstream, I dont think Suzuki is mainstream in SA.
I agreed, the Corsa will be my choice out of all three mentioned.

Jazz is great too, just that I think they are a bit more expensive than Polo, Fiesta or Corsa

Actually Suzuki is way more mainstream than Opel these days! (The SA Vehicle Industry Thread confirms that.)

Having said that my first choice of these 3 with that budget is the Corsa. Clio 4 should be considered as well.
