Ponzi schemes at state level

1. Some state owned enterprises are failining in certain respects, financial management amongst them, this does not mean that our government is a failure or that the ANC is failing, they develop policy and yes they need to intervene which is what they are doing, companies fail all the, time anyone remember Arthur Anderson, Chrysler, GM?

It's those useless policies they, the ANC, develop then blame the Company Board for failing. This guy sounds like my boss in local government - next thing they will blame someone else for developing the policy or i suppose it could always be apartheid:eek:

Well said Ginzu er Comrade - Can I have a farm now ?

A lot of African countries are actually doing very well for themselves.. The reason being is that they actually get off their asses and can't blame some apartheid regime.

actually very true.

Ok, so, how long has it taken government to properly 'intervene' in telecoms in SA? How long has it taken government to actually start taking on crime, instead of making statements such as 'If they don't like it, they can leave'.
The point is not that companies fail, sure they do. But they succeed too. Are we measuring ourselves against failures or success? Rather, SHOULD WE measure ourselves against failure or success?

Success FTW.

2. Comparing some of these SOE's to the Ponzy scheme is ludacris and smacks of unintelligent wild comments lacking any sort of perspective or adequate thought processes.
Ok, maybe some truth there, but the fact remains that they are squandering money like there is no tomorrow. Is that not in some way the same?

3. South Africa is by no means a failed state or nearing a failed state and cannot even be compared to countries like Zimbabwe, This Afro Pessimism must come to an end. Yes we have problems, but we are doing incredibly well all things considered, anyone who witnessed the wonderful Confed cup can attest to that.
I agree with you on the first part, but I am getting sick and tired of 'The Confed Cup' being touted as the proof that we are fine. 2/8 teams were directly affected by crime [That I am aware of]. That's a 25% penetration right there! That said, yes the tournament was a success and everyone enjoyed it.

Let me remind everyone that many European, Indian and Chinese companies are flocking to Africa as their next growth market, would they be doing so if its future was bleack? Where do many of these multinationals setup shop when they want to start business in Africa, you guessed it! In SA.
And others are pulling out. Heck, some places that used to deliver here won't do it anymore either!

4. Stop all the negative vibes about this great country of ours, rather participate in its development, and yes BEE has its faults but is necessary to address the wrongs of the past, and YES Apartheid was wrong and needs to be addressed. Many consider the Apartheid government to have been successful well that was easy when you had 100% of the resources to look after 15% of the population, when you start spreading things around more evenly it does get more difficult.
STFU! While I agree that we have a great country and I agree that we need to develop it and provide a future for our children, I can help but feel irritated by the fact that you ASSUME that everyone who DOESN't agree with things as they are MUST SURELY be racists or Apartheid fanboys.
Get off your high horse and come back to earth. I am not even going to elaborate any further on this topic as it's a dead-wood argument. All I can say is I feel sorry for you as you have clearly not grasped what this country is about, nor what the future is about.

Has anyone considered taking a job in one of our State owned enterprises?
There are THOUSANDS of people working for State owned enterprises. Technically, even employees of Telkom and [until recently] Vodacom worked for state owned enterprises. That my friend, would probably include EVERYONE HERE, in some way shape or form.
I fail to see your poorly made point.

Provide advice and constructive criticsm with a view to improve things, if you want to complain with no other purpose but to criticize and lay blaim then join :p the rest of the complainers in Perth
Start with yourself please. Nobody here made any mention of racism or apartheid but you. If that is the only way you can justify your argument against the obvious criticism then you've really just proven that you are indeed not as aducated as you think you are.

I have been attacked and shot at in my own home. I didn't leave SA, but if I had left you would have included me in your obsurd Perth comment. People who left SA did so on their own accord. If they all had forgotten about South Africa, then SA would be a lonely place, I'll tell you that much!
