Pool filter question

That spanner can just loosen it and not fasten it. You fasten the lid by hand so maybe you use something to fasten it that is to tight or you to strong.
Nope i'm doing it by hand.

Once closed it just refuses to open again until you half destroy it with a metal rod for leverage and a hammer.

50 years ago, I had a similar type of filter cartridge in our pool system and used diatomaceous earth with it. Cleaned the filter with the pressure of the hosepipe and had to put some new diatomaceous earth into the weir afterwards.

the long grey round ones with a half turn hose to lock it ,still got one with an orange Speck pump

I've had 2. they both snapped in about 2 months. I now use a metal rod and a hammer but they also left no space for much leverage either.
Mine was 20 years old when I handed it over to the new owner. But then my pool pump housing was built and installed for easy maintenance, not by the dimwits that built the one at OPs place.

Who wastes water with backwashing? Back wash water into a separate settling tank and back into the pool. Simple easy and about once in six months a quick clem with about 10 litre of water and the settling tank is ready to g for another 6 months.
Backwashing is cleaning out the junk and gets pumped into the street, why would I want it back in my pool?

Much easier to dump the backwash and refill from borehole.

Because you should be conserving water. And no the junk settles at the bottom of the settling tank which then allows you to reuse the water in the pool, free of the stuff that collects in the sand filter, which is mostly solid material left over after the chemicals ( expensive ones) have dealt with the stuff that grows in the pool water. But then of course, it is a matter of being concerned about reducing your impact on your surroundings, which does not seem to be a thing you worry about. And of course, you seem to be very happy that that water enters the water table and underground water courses, loaded with all the chemicals you throw into your pool. That water does not end up in the sewerage system where it would be cleaned. So that makes it even worse.

Isn’t the idea with these that you don’t clean them but instead throw them away and replace them? Just like those paper filters in some vacuum cleaners.

Nah, you rinse the cartridges and put them back

It was a genuine question I didn’t know that’s possible.

CNC machine would make more sense.
