Poor ADSL performance (Weltevreden Park)

Yeah my speeds are still not great.
Thankfully it has not rained in a while, so it's at least more stable than usual.
This really is rediculous.
I would dearly love to upgrade to a 1mbps line, but apparently I am too far from the exchange.
What would it take for them to put a new exchange up?

Apparently there was some faulty card on the exchange which Telkom has said that they have replaced over the weekend. I am still hardly getting above 0.5Mbps.

I am also around the same area, in Cornelius street, and only recently got my line installed on the 31st, and was working for about one hour before going down completely (making me assume I am on the same exchange as slurpy).

Really frustrating...

I have confirmation from Telkom that there is a network fault on our exchange. There is no ETA on when they will resolve the issue.

Leadwood complex in Rooitou avenue

We have the same issue we're in Milkwood estate in Cornelius street. It's +-500m apart... had telkom there on Saturday and they gave me some story about them swapping a card at the exchange... didn't make sense to me... if they replaced the hardware then it should be better right. - Ok looks like Shebaden beat me to it :D lol...

zzzzrrrrzzzzzrzrzrzrzrzzzzzzrrrrrrrzzzzzrrrzrzrzrzrrrzzzzz

I think your nickname is causing line issues :)

I have an open ticket with Webafrica since 2011/03/16 05:46:19 PM about poor performance. I sometimes only get 0 to 5Kbytes per second. Thats not even acceptable on a 384K connection. (I sync at 4Mbps).

Im in the lotus river area in western cape, also suffering the crappy poor performance on my 4mpbs line. Online game gets 300ms to 30s lag spikes and crashes after a minutes of playing, web browsing sucks if it even loads up. And this all happens when I want to watch nintendos live broadcast on their website today ..sigh...

I'm in weltevredenpark having the same issues all my figures seem perfect for 4 Meg even syncs at 4 meg but I never get more then 0-10k at night and 60k during the day ... Iv been bugging Telkom every day since the 13th may spoken to over 50 agents and about 8 so called managers only to be told yesterday the dslams in welties Are overloaded an investigation was sent to planning department on the 05/12/2010 to look into it .. Lol 6 months later nothing done .... So don't expect much .. It's really shocking The service levels at Telkom not to mention all the faults I logged been closed with resolved status .... I hate the fact that u cannot get hold of a manager of Telkom their uncontactable all the time and never return calls

@Sheb, I'm also in Cornelious str telkom also closed my call when they replaced the card "resolved" but it's got worse can't even load speedtest page.

i have the same issue in boskruin :/ just up the road, not quite as bad though

but day time, any account max i go is 1.5meg, but 12 o clock at night i get full speed 4meg! so it has to be the dslam/exchange etc phoned them numerous times, and they say 1 meg is good enough :/

Got to love Telkom, im on the fone with telkom .. apparently the fault was closed again "resolved", this is becoming really frustrating..
the agents says no one else if the area is complaining.. from what he can see.. so guys if u logged called please check that they are still opened and not magically closed.

the apparent exchange planning call was 32BRK051210, maybe if we all put pressure on them to speed this up. Dont think it will work though...

I have been in contact with Webafrica almost every day. I always get the same result. "Telkom did not provide an ETA".

My problem is that I don't get at least 1Mbps all the time I range from 0 to 5Kbps sometimes. But when the telkom technician tests it (during office hours when no one is at home) he easily gets +1.5Mbps

yeah exact same thing with me,....
after 5 i cant even load a web page thats how bad it gets .... ahh well looks like we have to sit and wait ....

Yea did a check, and the dsl led flashes slowly when the connection slows and stays lit when the connection is fine, this happens from 5s intervals to 1hr sometimes. but mostly it is unusable. and by slow its more like stops.

connected to the grassy park exchange

In berario just down the road from you guys and we're constantly logging calls to Webafrica about painfully slow connections. Don't worry about the Telkom guys - they're useless and each one talks a lot but can't fix the problem. Had them here 3 times and still no real improvement. Pi$$es me off that we HAVE to pay extra for a landline just to use ADSL. Thinking of giving Iburst a try and cancelling the landline entirely.
