Poor ADSL performance (Weltevreden Park)

i just moved from iburst to telkom .....
the reception was shyte in my area used to get 10kbps constantly....
apperently to much trees in our area

wireless isn't supposed to be better than ADSL. I have been forced to buy a Vodacom data contract. At least with that I can browse and play WoW.

appreciate the heads up re wireless as our area has plenty of trees too. guess we're doomed to a slow connection :-(

Got to love Telkom, im on the fone with telkom .. apparently the fault was closed again "resolved", this is becoming really frustrating..
the agents says no one else if the area is complaining.. from what he can see.. so guys if u logged called please check that they are still opened and not magically closed.

the apparent exchange planning call was 32BRK051210, maybe if we all put pressure on them to speed this up. Dont think it will work though...

Phone every morning and follow up. Make sure you keep track of who you talk to, dates you talk to them, the fault reference numbers, etc...

I have only recentlly moved to the area so I don't have enough to back up that Telkom is not helping us yet (have to give them a chance) to take the matter up further with ICASA for resolution (http://www.icasa.org.za/Complaints/tabid/66/Default.aspx)

I have been seeing techies working on the "mini-exchanges" in the area as well during the week (today at the exchange on Rooitou), so I can only assume they are doing something.

Also love it that the planning call that you provided was created last year December. I wonder what is the Telkom average ETA for these kind of things (if any).

lol just got of the line with them ....

Dlsams are down in Rooitou.
aperntly we on special resources, they cannot test any lines and cannot gaurentee anything.
no speed is guarenteed ....

I've just moved into the area (Palmiet Avenue) and I've been told its not possible to get ADSL or phone lines as there are no lines in the area, apparently they have all been stolen. This must be complete BS if others close by have ADSL lines (however the DSLAMS seem to be an issue)
