I have a simple solution for this... (of course its too simple for the ANC to ever even begin to contemplate)
If you are an MP, and you have a parliamentary sitting to attend, you are there or you are fired. No excuses. That should make the lazy buggers sit up and actually do some work maybe.

South Africa needs a tweak on democracy.
Majority party can only hold 35% of the seats - regardless of votes.
I fully appreciate this is not a "true democracy", but a one-party government is not a democracy either.
We really need to build an environment where there is accountability, potential for loss (as in job, presidency etc), and one that is open to more than one view. Or we are doomed.

Hardly the fault of the ANC. In fact they going out of their way to disenfranchise voters with their poor governance. I'm sure by 2009 there will be an opposition conspicuously represented in parliament...
