I know this may be subjective but does anyone else think that the overall content which DSTV having been displaying lately has been particularly bad? I don't know what its like during the day, but at night, I've only ever seen re-runs of the same shows. At one stage, behind the scenes was showing on all 3 movie channels at the same time. I have watched every single Who Wants To Be A Millionaire there is.

I feel like calling Multi-Choice and asking for my money back, seems like they're purposely showing crap so that we can spend more on Box Office

Look at the DSTV forum. You will find hundreds of similar complaints there. The SA viewing public are like sheep

Something new would be great... It seems as if we get the same content over and over again. I'm no movie Guru at all, but besides for the movie on a Sunday at 8, there is nothing else. I mean how many times was Hansie on last week? It would be nice if DSTV had some competition, that would bring some innovation to the industry, because things seem to stagnate when there is a monopoly.

Haha ya that's what I've been doing lately. Am either on my laptop or working...But I still need to justify the subscription fees somehow. If I had a larger internet cap there would be no need for DSTV :)

Multichoice are in the business of making money. Its cheaper to air repeats than keep on buying new stuff. If you look at the TV guide for BBC and Discovery over a week, some programs are repeated 8 to 10 times

Not really feeling like having this discussion again, but BBC and Discovery is content supplied by a third party... Shows you that it is not Multichoice that has a lot of repeats, but all pay TV around the world. This is a fact. Some time back I even posted links of online complaints about repeats, from Sky and Direct TV customers.

Good point and it makes sense.

Agreed. Looks like the only solution in the future will have to be internet streaming services such as HULU. Of course there are the licensing agreements to get past first to get that content here at the bottom of Africa.

Having watched Pay-TV in a few countries, DStv is one of the best, just way overpriced IMHO. I never struggle to find something to watch.

I watched DSTV for the first time in a long time, last night.
What a complete waste of money. The content is crap, sometimes the signal gets all pixelated like when it rains.
Really ridiculous

I honestly haven't experienced that issue . . . yet. Even during heavy rain picture quality is still good. Could be your dish thats the problem perhaps?

If you get frequent signal breakup, have your installation checked... If (in your opinion) it's a waste of money, switch it off.

Not my DSTV, went somewhere, to a friends place. Not really an issue on signal but content is definitely not worth what they currently charge

Exactly. I watched TV for the first time again in like 4 months the other day and was really not impressed. The content is just not worth the price tag. But if you want more than SABC 1,2,3 then thats what you have to pay unfortunately.

People are always complaining... Read a book, start a blog, build a coffee table, take a photo, paint a bowl of fruit, ride a bike, make your own entertainment... Be creative. Your only limit is your own imagInatIon

If you receive substandard service at a restaurant/shop/hotel etc., you would complain right? Now why if you receive substandard content should you not complain? You are a customer nonetheless. But the problem is that you don't really have a choice to go anywhere else because they have such a monopoly.

Its not that I don't do anything during the day, but I just feel that if you pay R700+ p/m the content should reflect that?

So you blame Multichoice for BBC and Discovery Europe's content?

DSTV is mostly a carrier - not a content provider.
