Porn and your brain.

When do you start fapping - when you get married...
When do you stop fapping - when you get a divorce...

Bad joke I know...

Porn messing up people's sex lives is the same thing as someone watching Rambo and then shooting up a few of their neighbours, or a kid playing GTA too much and beating up random people with baseball bats. If you can't tell fantasy from reality, it's not porn's fault, there was probably something wrong with you already. Same thing if it becomes an addiction, you have issues already.

Last year I met a girl who I am going to marry in November. I used to use porn as a substitute for sex and to avoid promiscuity but noticed that it affected me more than I realized when I started spending time with an actual person as opposed to digital fantasies.

Been porn free since about September last year and I must say it truly has improved my life in all aspects. I have "rebooted" my brain to respond to normal stimuli and I am far less cranky and moody than I used to be. Quite a strange feeling knowing that I have been a slave to porn in one form or the other since about the age of 16.

It was hard at the beginning, but with someone to support and help you through the rebooting process it is really worth considering if you were like me.

Just my 2c.

Porn does distort ones view and understanding of sex.
I don't think all the school children would be making cellphone videos if the idea wasn't implanted /inceptioned by the porn industry.

Indeed thought it was all no harm till I saw Louis Theroux's Documentary on the porn industry

For guys starting out in a relationship it could be a problem but what about the married okes.
Surely its a lot easier for them to 'fake' intimacy and thus the effects of porn are not as detrimental.

the more i watch porn, the more i look at women in a sexual manner. when i am porn-free, i am able to interact with women in a far more platonic manner. also, sex with my wife is INFINITELY better when i am free of porn. there is nothing lingering around in my memory that can distract me from the wonderful time with her. when porn is around, i find myself thinking of other women when having sex. i HATE that. it's tough to quit porn, and i struggle continually, but i for one am glad that i am trying. one day i will be free of that awful addiction :)

How does faking intimacy affect the marriage? I'm not married yet so I cannot give my opinion on it, but could only hope that if porn is out of the equation intimacy would improve with your wife?

We should make this the porn addicts support group thread .

It does not necessarily affect the marriage but it does affect the abuser, but unlike other forms of abuse the effects are much harder to recognise.
That is until you get caught, like in the movie Auto Focus.
Great expose on porn addiction within a marriage.

Stigma Stigma Stigma. If you have an addictive personally, you may get addicted to porn. I agree with every sexologist out there, sex/porn addiction only becomes a problem if it effects your life negatively. Eg. Missing work, sexual harassment stuff like that.

Interesting. TBH i did try give it up a while ago, it worked for a while!!!

I find im most often susceptible to it when im bored and have nothing to do! Are erotic pictures of you wife/GF considered to be porn?

I would say so , try keeping busy with work when the forum is slow because you will prolly get bored with those and look for newer pics.

So not a good idea.
