Whilst I am not into pr0n at all, and I have no interest in it, I do, however object to this kind of filtering, because it sets a preceedent, for ISP's to play God.

I know of some ISP's that have done this (corporate ones only) and they eventually went out of business because the customers felt they had no right to dictate to them what they can and cannot access on the web.

This is just like the great firewall of China.

first of all, get your facts straight! xdsl offer this family account as a seperate service, they still have their normal 'open' accounts. another thing, this won't stop porn in our everyday lives (etv, etc) but it is a start in the right direction at least. i support xdsl!
 
I say, just setup a proxy @ home and monitor what websites your kids visit!

If the little buggers learn how to circumvent them, at least they're gaining a skill! :)

A little dramatic perhaps. Is this really censorship? If govt had to say "right everyone has to do this" because we do not want our citizens to be able to access pRon then that is a problem. [and takes us back to scope and nipple stars etc which bout of censorship and repression is probably responsible for the overwhelming number of posters above with a strong liking for the stuff]

Having one service out of the ?200? that are available that offers a "porn free experience" (or at least tries) hardly requires the invoking of freedom of expression.

that would be great if everyone had the skills to set it up. also kids nowadays are getting more clever by the day. it needs to be stopped at isp level.

Actually that's the Japanese, but I'd rather not discuss that on this forum, for I fear what has happened on anime forums, will happen here and I don't want the good name of this forum put into disrepute. That's it!

Next month we'll have a Blasphemy-free dsl solution where any site that isn't religious gets filtered out... you'll then be able to download the whole internet!

If the internet was porn-free then we wouldn't be bitchin so much about the lousy 3 gig caps we've been stuck with.

Filtering = censorship = nazi. No thanks.

But protect the kids, so use Net Nanny or somethin'
 
We bitch about 3 gig caps because we can't download stuff, not necessarily pr0n. Not many people I know of, download pr0n, but many, almost everyone I know, downloads music and videos.

I was only kidding bro. But anyway, as long as it is a seperate service offerred by an ISP then it's cool, my point is that censhorship is not a good thing.

Those of us old enough to remember the stars that featured on the ladies in Scope magazine will probably agree :)
