I think its been awhile since you did those trips correct?

USA would be R60k minimum probably more, Europe would eat R100k of that budget (and it wouldn't be upper class type of holiday), Asia would be another R100k, and also not "upperclass"....

You don't buy an F-Type for its "speed" like you buy an S3 for its speed, you buy it because its a 2 door coupe that is jaw droppingly gorgeous and sounds amazing, and because its a Jag.

I have a buddy that's doing a huge trip through America for R50K, leaving this Tuesday. You just have to look out for deals and only book flights on Tuesday mornings (not kidding on this). Asia is hella cheap. We did an luxury holiday there with motorboat day trips, endless massages, 4x4 trips etc R28K for my wife and I 2 years ago.

Just last year a buddy did a lot of Europe with R30K and the train. He did stay el cheap lots of places, and for free at some by helping out. For R300K I am confident I can do most of the world and all of it won't be el cheapo.

Have you traveled a lot? I think many people have misconceptions about how expansive it is. I stayed in Nepal for a month and it cost me R100. I am not kidding.

What's the point? Where can you actually drive that fast in SA anyway? It's not all about straight line speed anyway, that's why people still buy Boxsters instead of M3s. You can't put a price on certain things. And an S3 doesn't come close to the F-Type's looks and driving experience...
 
Nope, I don't travel a lot purely because my money goes elsewhere.

I just think you underestimate what has happened to the rand and just how little it actually covers these days... I've watched week long holidays in Mauritius go from R15k to R25k in the space of a year. Same hotel, same everything, and that price is a special promotional price with plane tickets and such.
 
Oh no I agree on that, the speed is useless here either way. Just saying I have zero interest in the F-Type (or any Jag for that matter), but if I had to buy something fast it would rather be that.

Mauritius and Seychelles is expensive because they can be. You can have a nearly identical holiday to Thailand (Koh Samui island for example) for R12K. You'll probably have more fun there anyway.

The RHD Mustang estimate pricing in the Uk is GBP 32 000K, USD 25 000 for entry level.

Add customs, vat and the huge profit markup in SA 20%. You are looking at a big figure. Only 10% of Mustang are to be shipped overseas. What a premium


Why buy american , those cars barely go around corners.

It does look good though. The V8 will be stupidly expensive.

The Mustang goes around corners particularly well. Hell, the GT500 gives a GTR a run for its money.

5.0-litre V8 range-topper will be offered with 420bhp

GTR 485HP , while the newer editions range from 545 HP to 600 HP.

The US focus on comfort and handling comes second. Lets not forget the new Mustang has gained weight.

Ford has also been clear on the Mustangs sport focus. Most of these cars will be used for drag racing. Hence the focus. Atleast they finally have IRS. I wonder how good the first edition Mustang IRS will be?
