Porsche Driver Road Rage caught on Camera

MAN ARRESTED FOR ROAD RAGE ASSAULT

A man who allegedly assaulted a driver during a road rage attack in Fourways, Johannesburg, was arrested on Tuesday, Gauteng police said.

"He was brought into the police station by his legal representative and was arrested," Warrant Officer Balan Muthan said.

The man was released on bail and would appear in the Randburg Magistrate's Court on Wednesday charged with common assault.

The attack, on Witkoppen Road around 3pm on Saturday, was recorded by an eyewitness and posted on YouTube.

The video shows a passenger getting out of a Porsche and kicking at the driver's door side of a VW Jetta.

When the Jetta driver rolls down the window, the other man starts to punch him. A struggle ensues and the man grabs what appear to be the Jetta's keys and throws them away.

In an interview with broadcaster eNCA, the Jetta driver -- who asked to remain anonymous for fear of victimisation -- said he was punched in the face. He said he opened a case of assault.

"I was driving behind him and he was cutting off people left, right, and centre. So I went closer to see what kind of a Porsche it was and the passenger threw a can out the window at me," the man was quoted as saying.

"Then he threw another can, and it hit my car. So I hooted, flipped him the finger and asked what the hell he thought he was doing.

"He damaged my tracking device and stuffed up my side mirror. It all happened so fast I didn't even have a chance to think," the man said.

Watch the passenger being blamed for it and the driver getting off it. Charges will be dropped, as the road-rage victim will probably be buttered up with a monetary compensation.

Methinks there are two sides to this story. Doesn't excuse the disgusting behaviour of the Porsche driver, but it seems a trifle odd that when confronted by reckless driving you would "speed up to see what kind of a Porsche it was".

He probably flipped him off earlier for driving like a tard, and then the dude threw a can at him. Either way Porsche guy + co needs to learn a bit of humility. Times like these I wish the driver of the Polo was also a roid junkie; now wouldn't that make things interesting.
 
Thanks to the OP who posted this video. Had you not this twat would have gotten of scott free. Even if he is not convicted he will think twice about ever pulling a stunt like that again. We really need more citizen's to film bully's like this and name and shame them.
 
Carl Zeis responded, the passenger is not one of their employees. Anyone have an idea who he is yet?

Please explain what you see as reckless driving. Then I might formulate a response because we are on the same level of understanding.

Weaving in and out of traffic by taking small gaps is reckless driving according to me.

Any evidence of reckless driving? Any case opened for that? SAPS has a big problem, they catch guys sometimes bbut people often can't be bothered to open cases...

What sunbird said: it does SOUND like he was driving like an utter tosser and on the balance of expectation of the type of person, the vehicle, the general stereotype, let's face - he most definitely was then and probably still is now driving like a tosser.

In court, they call that hearsay, and if his employers fired him for this they would be in for a world of hurt. I feel for the employers - they take a PR knock because their hands are tied. No doubt, behind the scenes some serious words will be exchanged.

Driver is also guilty. Viz. Driver of a getaway car in a bank robbery. He does not exit the car to participate in the actual holdup.

The name of the passenger remains a secret? I hope he's not the driver's boss!

I agree that by all accounts the Porsche was driving recklessly, I was not insinuating that the other car was.

I just meant that it seemed odd that the victim would have "sped up to see what kind of Porsche it was" when he was confronted by the Porsche's reckless driving.

Maybe he was truly just curious and then the other guys perceived it as an aggressive move (feeling as if someone must have a problem with his driving cause he knows he is driving like a ****), so passenger threw the can and it escalated...

Maybe they even thought he was trying to take down the numberplate?
