Portability the key, says caged Branson

My feelings exactly. For a new startup the number of complaints is HUGE. They are no worse than Vodacom in their customer service attitude. I just wish they would leave out their 'pseudo cool' jingoistic language in their ads & literature. It's a load of BS - basically a con!

The fact that they can't even get their VRewards programme working properly after so long is very telling.
So who are you with then - Vodacom or MTN? Are either any better?

And the privilege of paying it off over the next 24 months. There are always catches to every selling point.

True, there always is, but if you know you're going to have a phone for the next 24 months anyway its not always such a bad option. Sometimes the monthly repayment x 24 is less than the cost of the phone retail.

Well at the moment I have Virgin prepaid for data and a Vodacom contract as my primary phone and I have to say Vodacom have been far better so far. Was with MTN before Vodacom too and didn't have any problems with them. Had endless problems with them, would never use them as my primary phone but not as much an issue with data.

I use Vodacom as primary for voice. I tried to use Virgin as secondary for voice and primary for data, but MTN is far more reliable when it comes to data. I have Cell-C as well but 3 numbers would be too complicated.

I try not to interact with the irritating customer services peeps, so if a network has a good automatic system it is a bonus (when it works Vodacom!!).

I see no relation between Virgin promises and PR and their actual provision.

Just to look at another irony - Branson is posturing about the delay's in mobile porting being a problem. He fails to mention which network operator has contributed the most to the technical delays and which network operator has a 50% stake in his company (in South Africa). I wish our investigative journalists were a little bit more on the ball in picking up the inside story!

I'm not sure I see who you're trying to blame - While CellC did ask for an extension until the end of October Vodacom and Mtn both requested one until December 7th. http://www.mybroadband.co.za/nephp/?m=show&id=4311.

Have anyone heard if what icasa said about the mnp? I heard theywoul make statement about it yesterday(friday), so I just want to know. If I could say something, Mtn is the anyway the last one to talk about customer service, and also vm could keep their mouths shut. I had problems with all of them in a years' time, and only vodacom could resolve it. So I will port to them.
