I searched the forum but still have some questions I couldn't get clear comments on from The Google.

So I'm in a heritage building and we aren't allowed to install air-conditioning units.

I wanted to know:
Is a 12000BTU portable aircon just as powerful as a Fixed unit 12000BTU aircon?

My living area is roughly 6 metres by 7 metres with high ceilings.

I read that a 12000BTU will cool an area up to 25ms which I think is like 5x5 metres?

And lastly. I read that the ducting kits are for sliding Windows but that they have kits for our slide out / in windows

Any advice or recommendations on Brands as I've seen such mixed reviews online.

Please help? I'm so hot

The portable aircons are k@k noisy, do not buy one. And you have to open a window to exhaust the expelled hot air through a moerse pipe which just lets in more hot air.

I think that's just down to the technology itself, some people are going to expect too much of these devices or use them improperly.

They definitely work, but are much less effective than an equivalent mini-split unit.

I would stick to the brands available here: https://acdirect.co.za/product-category/air-conditioner-portable/

I've been impressed with the Midea stuff but I see they're all out of stock.

TCL with an exhaust kit .dead quite allmost .no noisier than a desk fan ,within reason it is a pump device ,and if you cant get rid of the hot exhaust easily it wont work very well .
