hahaha, mine will be delivered on monday from Geewiz

The max V I've seen on the batteries has been 14.4V, but only for very short periods.
The UPS is in Lead-acid battery setting and the Lifepo4 batteries are drop-in replacement types
That's perfect 3.6v per cell it's fully charged

You could even charge a lifep04 full at 3.45 per cell ie13.8 but then it just takes long for the last bit ie if you leave it long enough it will fully charge

Just quicker if you can get it yo 3.5-3.6 per cell
 
No in fact not balancing them will cause the one to go bad sonner
ie none is actually bad the one just isn't full and the bms switches it off to protect the cells

Now wothout balancing them the one will always run down to 0 if you run it until it dies

While the other only goes down to lets say 40% soc ie one works hard and one coasts

The one abused degrades first

So a lot depends on the quality of the bms in these batteries

ie i if they have good settings not a big deal

ie if they cut the bottom at min 2.75v and the top. At 3.65v

But some bmss abuse cells ie dumb daly and other bms runs down cells to 2.2v before it does a low voltage disconnect based on cell voltage
But that is worst case scenario if cells aren't in balance

The pack voltage will stop it way before that
 
it's all in the trolley, set to charge for 24V lead acid. The manual leaves me clueless - see below
Thanks, yes 11.4V is fine for cut off, and you said earlier that you've seen 14.4V (28.8V) which is also ok to fully charge LFP so you're good to go. Just add a balancer for peace of mind.

No worries. :) I would also change to 10A if you have enough time between sessions.
Yea have to agree on this

Avoid the fast charge on cheaper devices until you have seen many posters say the device copes fine with that charge rate

One of my stepping stone inverters was the mecer modified sine wave model with the 3 plugs on top and the 10-20a slider at the back(i had the 24v 1440) and was happily pulling 1000w all the time

Maybe i had a dud

Memory is fuzzy so can't recall the stages
But it worked fine for years until higher stages hit

It did not last long after i had to start using the 20A option to be able to charge back what i took out in yhe next on stint



Imo their charger circuit wasn't built for that abuse

Anyone have any experience with the Bluetti AC200P?

Looks like a solid contender vs the Ecoflow Delta range (probably also cost wise vs the Delta 2 coming soon, considering the Delta Max @ 2016Wh is R47k).

I watched a fair amount of reviews on YouTube, and from what I gathered at the time is that it's good, but has some quirks. I was considering buying one when I thought my Ecoflow Delta was dying, but since I fixed that issue I decided take a chance on a Bluetti EB70 (and am happy a couple of weeks later). Also took the plunge and got my girlfriend a Bluetti EB3A (R6200 vs R8000-R9000 for the Ecoflow River) and will look at other Bluetti products in the future.

One thing I am a bit concerned about is that Bluetti's local team is basically non-existent (they have a Facebook page that they update once in a while) so if I have a fault with any of their products, I have no idea where it's going for repairs.
 
Also clueless at this stuff. What would I need to power a pc with a 600w power supply for around 4 hours. Toss in a phone charger too. I've been looking at those Ecosystem portables but no idea what to get. Any advice on this is appreciated.

Start by getting a Killawatt meter. See what you're actually using by plugging your PC into that and then plugging the meter into the wall. Just because your PC is 600w doesn't mean you use anywhere near that. I have a 650w power supply and the only time my PC uses more than 120w is when I'm playing Spiderman, and even then it maxes out at about 250w. The rest of the time it's either work or cheap PC games so I don't use that much power.

So let's say your PC is chowing about 300w consistently. Multiply that by 4 hours. You'll need at least a 1.2kwh power station and the ability to charge it up between load shedding sessions, which are every 6 hours, so you'll need a power station that gets back to max in 6 hours tops. If we go to higher stages of load shedding that gap where we have power might shrink to 2-4 hours, so you might want to plan around that.

Also, an idea of your budget would be useful once you know what your average power usage is.

Yep technical support was one of my worries, but the seller on Takealot mentioned that they would handle comms with Bluetti directly if any need arises. He also mentioned that they arrived in SA around Jan and will start ramping up efforts.

Also nice of Takealot to throw a fire sale a day after I bought mines :rolleyes:

The solar panels that are often available form the power station manufacturers are overpriced anyway. Just get another panel.

The problem is matching spec for the controllers in a portable power station. Like, a standard 100w rigid panel that goes on the roof has almost double to triple the voltage that a controller will accept in a bluetti or ecoflow and will toast the thing if you use it. That's why I've had to go with ecoflow rigid panels. Right volts and amps.
