Portable Power Stations

IMO do not leave your EcoFlow plugged in / use it as a UPS. I've seen a lot of "overload" errors on their Facebook page and people are complaining about long repair times.

I see they have also now added a warning onto some of their models on their website:

Warning: To protect the battery please charge it through a surge protector plug. Due to high surges between load-shedding cycles the surge can damage the battery. To further protect the battery please do not keep the unit plugged in when power is scheduled to go back on.

Fair enough.

Charging via 12v works good enough for me on my River Max.

I'm looking into charging my Delta Max faster though. It is only taking 115w form the battery and there is no way to change it form car to solar to get more watts like on the River.

Also tested some more this weekend.

About 3 hours of TV+Xbox yesterday (streaming) at about <150w and the fan did not kick in at all. Completely silent operation and had some battery to spare. This is huge for me as I had to keep the Gizzu in another room with an extension cord.

Today I tested the hair dryer (lowest setting is 600w) and the fan did kick in so the fan definitely does work. The fan is not very loud at all (Gizzu fan is loud and on from 100w).

Also tried to charge it while it was charging my laptop and it seemed to work fine. I don't need it to do this but thought I'd try.

Tough one.

The Ecoflow River 2 may have a few more features and longer warranty but it is hugely more expensive (13k vs 9k) and its not like the Bluetti is low quality no name brand. Both are built well and have LifePo4.

Doesn't the Ecoflow charge much faster as well? Very important feature during stage 6 LS with it's frequent power cuts.

Yes.
Ecoflow 1hr
Bluetti 3hr
Gizzu 8 or 9 hr

TBH these types of devices are best suited for covering you once or twice a day (for up to 4 hr - depending on battery size). If this is you then 3hr is fine. I even managed with the Gizzu. If you need power 24/7 you are going to be hating life-changing all the time and should go straight for an integrated home battery system.

Takes mine around 5 hours from completely flat (ran it flat in one random experiment to the point where a new led warning came up on the screen) to full using just the 200w charger.

edit: this tells me that if I use the correct PSU or battery or combo and get it up to around 350 to 400w input I could charge it fully in around 2.5 to 3 hours.

Also the completely flat too me quite some time to achieve, ran my tv etc for a bit over 3.5 hours to get it that flat, and the tv etc was still running when I gave up.

Side note, I was working in a dark spot without electricity for most of yesterday.

Plugged a 15w bulb into the Bluetti, left it on for easily 5 hours, the power stayed at 100%
 
Did a test on my River Pro 1 with extended battery, 300W over 2hours use 40%. charging is over 600W and takes about 1h30 hours. Ran 2 rooms, 55", google chromecast 4k, with z5500 and Ubiquiti Wifi. Other room 32" tv, shield pro and z5500.

I normally just run with the z5500's, but tested it with the extended battery. will do a full run down sometime and do a slow charge. Will look at solar panels when more panels are on the market to choose from.
 
Has anybody done tests on the Ecoflow 1 units vs Ecoflow 2 units and see difference in lasting times. Would be interesting to see if it would be more then 20% or less.

Why would they have any different run times? Has the battery capacity changed too?

Still, the Arch made an excellent point back in the day... For plenty folks, bite by bite is the the best way to eat this Elephant.
