Portable Power Stations

I bought the Rizzen Premium 600W Powerstation from Takealot and got it last night - I see however it's sold by Rugged SA so could have gotten it from them quicker

I switched off all the plugs at the Db-Board only switching on the lights and certain plugs, I then took a 3-point male-to-male cable and connected the power station to one of the outlets in my house pushing power back into the system and ran the following on the 600W:

1. Charging cellphone
2. House Alarm + 2 Beams
3. Wifi Extender
4. Fountain - haha it's a test won't be running this in real-world environments
5. Energizer (Electric Fence)
6. 12 x Downlights
7. 55" TV (150W)
8. Xiaomi TV Box
9. Router & ONT

231 - 237 Watts
88% = 2.1h left

If I chose to run my 32" TV that runs 60W or even turn down the brightness on the 55" I would literally run this thing for a full day of stage 6 and not pick up any problems

The benefit is also this thing looks way better than a trolley when you run it in the living room and entertaining because your neighbours also don't have power
If it's 577Wh, how can you have 88% left after 2 hours if your load is 230W?

Anyone with the/knows of someone with the Genki GK-1000 know whether it has a working UPS function?

Can't find a manual online.

Would have much rather gotten a trolley inverter but can't find any stock in Lithium.
September is just too far away.

@bar1 contacted Mustek, the distributor, and according to them the Genki units don't.

However you can use it while it is charging.

So I bought a RED-E Power Station (https://www.outdoorwarehouse.co.za/product/red-e-portable-power-station) ... liked the charging cycle count and the relatively large capacity for the price.

Some findings so far:
  • I can get a full battery charge for a laptop needing +/- 150W input and also run my 40W monitor for 2 hours and it had about 40% remaining. So it will just get you through a 4 hour load shedding recharging a similar laptop once and keeping the monitor on throughout.
  • It can only run the DC circuits(so USB chargers etc.) whilst being charged otherwise its charging OR AC output, if you are powering AC devices and the mains come back, it automatically starts charging and shuts down the inverter circuit.
  • Under 80W output there is no cooling fan noise, beats the "sounds of Africa".
  • Takes about 4 hours to charge 40% -> 100%

Thanks for the response.

I also did contact Mustek and they said this unit is end of life.

The search continues...
How well versed are you with DIY? I'm thinking of building my own unit.

500w inverter-charger
13v Blue Nova LiFePo4 battery
Cabling
Multiplug
Toolbox from Builders to put everything into.

My needs are just a 69w LED TV, 6w router, and 6w ONT and (I think) 60w charger for my laptop.

So I'll be drawing a max of 150w at any given time...

I doubt it will ser me back more than 5k in total, especially given that I don't need PSW since all the things I want to power have switched mode power supplies and none use motors.

Lithium charger? I have contacted Blue Nova about this before. They said you would need to use a Lithium charger not lead acid. Im struggeling to find a Lithium inverter-charger.

I think they're talking nonsense because their batteries have built in BMS's and are drop-in lead acid replacements.

I was looking at something like this

The system should then in theory operate as a UPS

Form what I've read, they are "drop in" in terms of form factor. Not in terms of charging voltage etc.

I asked them specifically around charging the Blue Nova MPS range and they said "Charger has to be set to lithium mode for charging the lithium battery yes."

In terms of voltage too. They’re just avoiding the liability of people using kuk chargers.

I'm a complete newbie to all these power stations.
I need some advice from all you in-the-know ppl!

I do know I need a power station with the following:
LiFePO4 type of battery
Pure Sine Wave Output
Silent

Here are my options:
1. Red-E Portable Power Station
2. I-G3N Nano 750
3. PPS750 Portable Power Station
4. Mobivolt Inverter Trolley 500W HYB PSW* (this one is a bit interesting because it comes with solar panels).

Which do you think is the best choice?

Thanks!

300Wh Cube Mega Power Station

Ended picking up this for my dad for TV and dstv , i am looking for solar panel attachment does anyone know where i can get this ?

Thank you

I cant see the connector size.

Perhaps something like this could work: https://www.geewiz.co.za/solar-acce...87&sfdr_hash=c18a8be6a75023828273b1a330b480d9
Try to measure the size of the connector.
