Been driving myself up the wall testing and trying to make sense of what's causing it - I don't think it's groundloop so either some sort of DC offset or noisy AC output which I wasn't expecting to be the case with the device featuring a pure sine wave inverter. As soon as AC mains is restored, all the buzz/hum disappears immediately.

The weird part is that it occasionally doesn't occur for the first few minutes at full charge, but starts happening when the battery level drops to <92% - or doesn't happen if the AV receiver is the only device plugged into the UPS. If I switch over to battery, turn on the AV receiver - no hum/buzz from the transformer, but as soon as you switch on another device (TV or PC) it starts up... Bzzzzzzzzzzzz... pulling my (non-existant) hair out over this :ROFL:

I've tested the same setup with another cheapie 720Wh Li-Ion "Pure sine wave" PPS (no built in transfer switch) and its whisper quiet..

Hey thanks, yeah my TV also doesn't make any audible buzzing likely due to it having an inbuilt SMPS.

I wonder if anyone else on here has the GeeWiz 2200W/1997Wh PPS that could test for AV receiver and subwoofer transformer hum when on battery... really not keen for the schlepp of returning, assessment and trying to find an alternate solution :crying:

Quickly searched this thread and found someone else with a similiar issue.

I have decided to settle for the Bluetti. Not interested in trying out and returning power stations repeatedly when the Bluetti already provides quiet power with a small caveat. As long as I do not charge it while watching TV (when the fan is too noisy - it does not cause a transformer hum or ground loop like the EcoFlow does). The small caveat is a slight inconvenience in that I manually need to switch the TV & HiFi stack to the Bluetti when load shedding happens to hit while I use the stack, which is not often. Otherwise, I run the stack off the normal mains. Small price to pay for quiet backup power during load shedding. I charge the Bluetti overnight if I have used it during a particular day. My main amplifier is a Class 1 device, which uses an earth pin plug. The power station must handle this earth circuit properly, or the amp will hum.

@jpbarnard2019 If you still peruse these forums - did you ever manage to get to the bottom of this issue? Main difference with my setup is that my AVR is class 2 (2 pin plug).
 
Got a Ecoflow Pro yesterday, quite the little power house off its initial test, just wanted something small to keep the in bedroom for the CPT 2 hour load shedding slots, has a awesome app to customize the features the unit has,

I tested it with:

Mist type floor standing fan
42 inch tv
Apple TV box
Bed side lamp with those loadshedding bulbs
Charge phone/tab/whatever usb A/C needs charging,

Think all together it was around 220w max that I was using if i remember correctly, pretty neat little unit! Impressed!!!! Display showed 4 hours with that full load, jumped to 6 hours without the fan running

Lol, when I got my Ugreen 2200, i straight away tested on the following and I guess it's still in testing phase as I have not taken anything off it *yet* lol
1 x 55" tv
1 x soundbar & sub set
1 x decoder
1 x android media box
1 x deco m4 mesh unit
1 x lamp
1 x single-door fridge
1 x chest freezer

Its hits about 450-480W when the compressors kicks in, then shimmers down to a comfortable 340-360W - easily handles a 2-hr rolling blackout sessions, waiting for those pesky 4-hr ones...

might that the Pro to the lounge or kitchen tonight to try the lounge tv+console or some kitchen appliances, its really cool that power can be carried around with me anywhere anytime now. Only reason i chose ecoflow was cause i saw my dads delta 2 in action, i was impressed, the Ugreen does look pretty neat also! i could have got away with the River 2 i suppose, but had a feeling that less is less and more is more, was a great price, i couldnt resist

Was going to go the Ecoflow route, got my logins and everthing, then went with UG's pricing,
Not much of a difference, between the 2 I think - EF just has slightly faster charging around 30 minutes or so ( spec stats wise )
The UG charges up from 0 - 100 I think specs says 1.5 hours, and I think the EF says 1 hour.

Did you get the River or Delta Pro?
 
My work issued Ecoflow River Pro 720Wh died over the weekend so it's being sent in for repair/replacement. Think it is around 1.5 years old.

It had the common Overload error even with no load on the AC output side. Switched it off completely for 4 hours and then it wouldn't turn on at all.

Have you been charging it via a surge protector?

Not directly but technically yes, house is on an inverter so there's a surge protector in the DB.

Plugged in 24/7 but had an automation to cut off input to it if there was loadshedding at night and then charge it back up during the day when the sun is out. The draw from it at night was only around 35W so it wasn't really being stressed other than being plugged in all the time.

That is a lot of money for 2kwh

If you need a pretty camping unit and surplus of money burning a hole in your pocket maybe

You can buy a cheap 5kw +5kwh battery combo for that price , that has way more solar capacity

Plus 3000w of AC charging capacity some even more

It is funny how scared people are of this
that is probably why all in one units actually sell

But i get it no matter how much i try and explain to my dad he won't budge
