Porting to Cell C - rica problem

I am trying to port from MTN to Cell C (prepaid)

- Bought a new Cell C sim card at pic n pay, they did the RICA thing

- SMSed the RICA serial of the new sim to 084 767 8287
(BTW that number is for some reason registered on iMessage lol so had to manually change it to SMS)

Got a SMS back that I must RICA the CellC sim card first? I have done this

Is there any way to check if it has been RICAed - as far as I can tell you must not plug the new sim in before the port process is done
 
Plugged the cell c sim in (as if pic n pay stuffed up the RICA then I have to go back anyway)

Now I got a SMS and robot phone call on my MTN number saying a port has been requested
SMS takes 45 mins to expire it looks like

Will update on what happens

CellC only one offering prepaid eSim and wifi calling on iphone?

I went to prepaid on MTN from contract few years ago as they were the useless ones, allowing fraudulent sim swaps on my number, suspending my account for non payment while on debit order which went through fine

AFAIK CellC prepiad now roam on mtn anyway so I dont see the issue

I am trying to port from Vodacom prepaid to Cell C prepaid and have experienced the same thing. After I inserted the new Cell C SIM immediately got an SMS on my Vodacom SIM saying "Thank you for your request to port to Cell C". I got an SMS on the Cell C SIM with a new number. Now I'm wondering what is going to happen tonight when the port goes through? Will my Voda number start to work on the Cell C sim or will it be in limbo?

Port ended up going through without issues.
 
Just realized today that my iMessage wasn't active, is stuck on verifying

Has anyone used iMessage on a ported number, any extra things I need to do?

Good day, I have the same problem,

Bought my new Cell C Sim at PEP, when I sms my serial to port, it says RICA not done. So went went back to PEP...system shows serial RICA bit porting number. Sms the serial again but not receiving the 2 confirmation sms's please help this is so frustrating.

@Antonette33 when you hold your mouse over @Cell_C name there is a "Private Message" option, this is used to send messages kind of like an eMail to their inbox where your information is no publicly shown.

You must insert the new rica'd number to get a number and then the port will go through. I think it's an error on Cell C side. But I've ported two numbers like that already.

I've successfully ported six numbers like this. It's the easiest way around this issue.
 
Having the same issue - bought yet another CellC sim PAYG and made sure they Rica'd it, but I also get a fail due to non rica. I sent a PM to Cell_C rep and lets see what happens.

I am really tired of MTN stealing my data at a tremendous rate, and the high prices.
