In short we did enjoy. However, we did enjoy France and Serbia more.

PT food is not interesting , lol.
Steak and chips with Egg
Pork Espetada
Grilled Chicken of course.
Lulas or Lulas com tinte ( squid legs or squid legs with ink )
Bacalhoa ( salted cod fish, not my favourite but lots of folks love it )
Grilled Sardines by the river ( Saldinhas )
Latoa ( roasted suckling pig )
Chorizo
Grou ( chickpeas as a accompaniment like starch )
Presunto ( ham )
Marmalada ( fig marmalade so thick you slice it )
Papseks ( Portuguese bread rolls )
Breads, sour dough not commercial
Portugal is a poor country and the food is rich from that. Don't look for fancy cuisine, you want the rustic stuff.
Bonus coffee
Cafe e aqua quent - Expresso with a firewater chaser
Gallao - Late on steroids
Wines and beers

No problem at all. I totally agree with your comments and a small village living would be cool there!Thank you for the trip report, great photos and I have been to a lot of the places.
Portugal is not a typical European experience, but I like it, I will go live there.
Now that's a car...just remembered, was overtaken by a kermit green Mercedes AMG GTR on the highway last year, I heard it before I saw it
we live on the main road on the Douro river in Porto, people like to cruise on this road at sunset, will try and take some pics next time we're there:

On your point of Lisbon being overun with tourists - the reality is that all of us will be tourists when we travel - comes with the territory anywhere in the world. Choose if you want to queue or skip to see something different - be informed.
It happens 50% of the time for me.For some or other reason I cant copy paste pics into MYBB at the moment so the review is gonna take some time >_<

Aguardente bagaceira is made from pomace to prevent waste after the close of wine season. It is usually bootlegged, as most drinkers only appreciate it in its traditional formulation of 50% to 80% ABV. A common way to drink it is as café com cheirinho ("coffee with a little scent"), a liqueur coffee made with espresso.[10]
Spot on, when we were in Lisbon I asked the cafe owner what he added and he said he makes it himself and gave me 3 different shot of all the ones the family makes on the house. Was an awesome experience and really enjoyed it.Ah but did you know most families make thier own? I got a bottle somewhere around, it's quite deadly.
If I recall, it's made from the finished pressings of the wine grapes or so I was told
