Possible FNB inContact SMS scam?

Since no one seems to be working at FNB today - call centre music plays forever - no way to find out what is going on.
Anyone speak to them yet?

It is a "Tolerance Limit". I think they will let your account overdraw by that amount before returning debits.

Thats the email.. someone f**ked up good..

For now I'm thinking this is a bank error not a scam. Unless someone would care to demonstrate otherwise.

Of course that all changes if someone starts requesting a "refund".

Damn, this seems to be a royal mess.
Not with FNB myself.

Perhaps their systems are feeling like playing Santa :p :D

Best is not to spend all the money, but keep it safe. Otherwise, when the bank does reverse that transaction, then you'll be worse off.

I got R3K.

Also Naedo Collection.

Naedo = Non Authorized Early Debit Order

WTF?

I got email and sms, but no money :(

I've only got cellphone banking access to fnb right now but I don't think the money has actually been deposited. I can't help wonder if its not a reflection of my last transaction which was for the same amount.

Damn, here i thought I got extra money. Tried to call online banking saying "Network Busy".

Could be the whole country who has an FNB account trying to call their call centre. LOL dnt wanna be them right now.

I don't think anyone actually got any money so there's no interest etc to be had. Sounds like it was just a royal *****up on the incontact system.

Naedo (non authenticated early debit order) is basically a system that companies can use when your debit order bounces. It can basically "check" your account for money up to about 5 times a day for 30 days and as soon as there is some money there your debit order goes through. The companies have to pay a lot more than a normal debit order though so it's usually around 3 times a day for 7 days or so.

Got my SMS at 01:09 this morning with 5000 being paid to my account.

I wonder how many people will be queued outside FNB today with queries because I need to deposit a cheque....

I also got an sms this morning at around 01:11 with a payment of R 3000 , but no money in the bank....

My brothers got the same naedo reference, R1500 and no answer from the call centre.

Father Christmas came early this year.

Now I'm just waiting for fnb to tell me there is no santa. :)

Same here:

FNB :-) R4000.00 paid to cheq a/c..000000 @ Eft. Ref. Naedo Collection. 11 Dec 21:02

Seems that nobody read my comments. :(

I did. Just don't entirely understand it. I don't have an overdraft facility - so how can they 'let me overdraw'? I also don't understand what you mean by returning debits?

Whether you have an overdraft facility or not, you might for some reason go over your overdraft limit or overdraw your account when a cheque or debit order goes of your account without there being sufficient funds. The bank may tolerate the excess up to a certain amount or unpay the cheque or debit order. Depends on your credit rating.

edit: Maybe RBJacobs can explain it better. a PM has been sent.
