Hi all

I was directed to this forum after experiencing some worrying (and annoying) issues. I hope you guys may be of assistance.

Some background info:

I live in the Centurion area and have a Billion 400G router and was on the Telkom 1mbps uncapped account that was upgraded to 2mbps.

Here are my issues as of last week:

-The "internet" light on my router turns red upon switching on the router 8/10 times.

-When it above mentioned does turn green, it sometimes turns red again after inconsistent time periods.

-When I do get internet access, I get download speeds of approximately 0.05 Mbps as indicated by a speed test (Telkom says the line is syncing at 2 mbps)

-Last week Friday I saw those 2 mbps download speeds for the first time for about two hours before they slowed down to the usual 0.05 Mbps with very occasional bursts to ~40-60 kbps)

I suspect that the issue may be that a family member unknowingly connected a micro filter in line with the router for a minute before realising their mistake, however these issues did present themselves immediately after this incident. Could it be down to Telkom?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

First try someone elses router to see if it does the same.

^This.

Or log a line fault with Telkom TI if you do not have another router, they should try a couple of things - Port reset etc. but eventually they should send out a tech with a test router, and this will verify if its your router. I suspect it could be due to a faulty router, and it keeps cutting out, or you could have some line issues.

Could you post your line stats as well, check your noise on your line?
