Post Office increasing mail and parcel prices

Sending documents and parcels via the South African Post Office (SAPO) will soon cost more.

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa, which regulates the telecommunications and postal services industry, recently gazetted SAPO's new fees.

From 1 April 2022, the state-owned postal services company will be charging around 6% more on its ordinary mail, fastmail, and domestic counter-to-counter parcel deliveries.

To be honest, the increases are largely in line with inflation so not outrageous.

Of course, I'd never entrust anything to SAPO in the first place other than cheap crap from Wish... so don't really care what prices they charge to send stuff around the place in whatever retarded time frame... If they start trying to hike that International Parcel fee for Customs much beyond where it is now, then they won't even get stuff through Wish for me.

Have at it SAPO - not like I'm using your services at their current pricing.

No issue with these increases. Haven't used the post office in many years. Not interested in them either. I have no issues with their pricing. In fact, I pay a lot more to private couriers to replace SAPO's services. I do have massive problems with their service delivery, their staff and the thefts occurring there. Due to this I will likely never use them in any event.

We need to post one of Mark Rober's fart packages for the sticky fingered one's at SAPO. Teach them a lesson

I've been lucky and haven't had anything go missing lately. The only problem is that some deliveries have taken ages to arrive. Ordered some time-sensitive items and chose DHL only for the shipper to send them via the post office. They arrived yesterday after nearly 3 months in transit  I won't send via the PO so the new fees don't bother me.

Oh no, how am I going to afford....... Oh yes, I dont use them anymore, one of the easier government organisation to replace.

I will never use SAPO - bad service and parcels get stolen. Even if I have to add 1g of black powder to each parcel (making it illegal for SAPO to transport - dangerous substance :) ) I will find a way around them !!!!

During the eighties, while at hostel my mum used to send me R10 notes via the Poskantoor. Never stolen. Not once.
A great institute screwed up by the cadres. Viva, corruption, viva.

This is how we, as children, also used to get christmas presents from grandparents and other family members. I still remember those R1, R2 and R5 notes coming in the mail.....

Just turn the post office into a mafia, all the other courier services must pay them a fee to operate on their turf.

Dude they just up and closed my post office, didn't let me know anything (in fact they did so for most post office in Cpt). I paid for a whole year, came half way through the year and there is a notice on the door saying I can go fetch my parcels at Cape mail, the post office is closed permanently.

F#ck the post office.

Sounds with all the closing (Theft, Fraud etc) of PO's, Postnet & Couriers they're having a torrid time. Didn't they try early 2000's to close Postnet or something? Been away too long to remember.
