PostBox-Courier.com how to

Wow great service from these guys. Order a 4.8k laptop from Amazon (not available in SA), which was delivered to the US depot on the 8th of August. I paid shipping (about $50) ASAP and received the laptop today (12 August) - that's 3 weekdays including Friday's public holiday.

This time I'm happy with customs - the laptop passed through without problems and Berco delivered really quickly

Let's hope that they sort out their issues with delivering items from the US.

How much did you end up paying in import duties?

WTF 3 days? How is that even possible , they have to receive the parcel and then ship it. 3 days, fking insane :D.

Ripclaw try myUS.com they purchase the item for you from anywhere, like newegg for instance. Most of the time newegg has free delivery or 4 dollars delivery. Then from there they ship it to SA. I think and i may be mistaken but when i imported my ssd for 4k, i think they added 10% to the cost of the item and delivery charge if it had to be paid for but for me it was free from newegg, then they charge you for shipping but it is a bit expensive, i think i payed 25-30 dollars to ship the ssd haha. Took 7 days, dhl cleared it at customs i had to pay dhl for the customs fee. Considering the cheapest 128gb ssd in this country at the time was 8-9k, saved a lot of money. Wow if amazon has a 7990 for 659 dollars, i wonder what the total would be for shipping and customs. 3 days, that is faster than some online stores in ZA

What is the current pricing of tax/vat/import duties at the moment?

Let's say I order a 15K laptop from the UK?

Anyone have a ballpark figure or where I can get the figures to calculate this?

no duties on laptops, just import vat and agent clearing fee
on 15k add 15.4% for vat (what they do is take the declared value, up it by 10% and then add vat, or just works out to 15.4% as mentioned)

so R15k = R2310 for VAT and R150 clearing fee (that varies, both Berco and DHL are R150)

and add to that whatever the international shipping costs

Whoo hoo!, USA depot is back online.

Go Gary!

Wow! Awesome service!

Ordered from Amazon.co.uk - took 3 days for Amazon to ship the order in the UK...

Postbox courier took 2 days from the UK to SA! Amazing.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you order? And were customs cheaper through Postbox Courier than if you ordered via Amazon to your door?

I bought a bunch of woodworking stuff during the months of June and July from various US & Canadian suppliers and on average the shipping costs accounted for an additional 22% on top of the goods. This cost includes local shipping costs to the PBC depot in California so strictly speaking it was even less.

I wanted Amazon to send me a toolkit but the shipping/duties amounted to nearly an additional 59%!!

I ordered a bluetooth headset, so Amazon won't ship to SA (they don't ship electronic goods).

I didn't end up paying any customs - item value was about R500.

Thank you, both of you. I'm keen to try out their US depot, so I'll purchase something from Amazon US and see how that goes. But the bloody R/$ exchange rate is just getting crazier now. :(

Greetings folks. I wanted to enquire from you knowledgeable folks in here. If you can maybe provide me with a cast-iron, will definitely work method to place an order via newegg. I am trying to purchase a specific motherboard and they appear to be the only place that has stock of this item.

So please are you able to provide me a sure fire step by step method. My main issue is the payment, not so much the shipping as I would want to use postbox-courier to assist in this.

thank you in advance.
