PostBox-Courier.com how to

I thought I'd post my initial impressions of Shipito.

I placed 3 orders; 2 with Amazon US and 1 with a manga / anime company called Rightstuf, whose prices on certain items are cheaper than Amazon's..

Rightstuf ships directly to SA. Their shipping is cheap and while I once had issues with one of their parcels arriving late, they reshipped it. I had post office return the original to sender. Just the other day I got another TRSI shipment in.

Clearance fee: R19
Tax: R348
Contents was valued at about $250
Shipping was $35

Stackry, Shipito, Postbox courier, Rightstuf, MyUS.

So far we have some feedback on everything save MyUS. I will try and put in a comparison if they dont already exist. I've just ordered from Amazon to Stackry and will see how it goes. R3k worth - Bike Light (which was the purpose of the order) and Fire TV just for kicks :)

Well, in the end, shipito was fairly easy and convenient, but once postbox-courier is back up, I will certainly take my business there.

Stackry for info. Once the packages arrive, you can consolidate them (drag and drop). You also have to add the itemized list and values of items (I didn't try to lie) and then you get charged 2USD per package you consolidate. You then have a shipping charge + consolidation which you pay for using paypal. Will provide feedback when the package is in my hands.

BTW there's a 2way $10 referral, so feel free to drop me a PM :D

Also plan to go the postbox courier route when its back up.

So, I consolidated my 5 packages from Amazon, using Shipito's interface, which is fairly simple to use. You get charged $1 (if memory serves) for consolidating each package. You also get to indicate if the consolidated package is a gift, and you get to specify a value for the package.

Once the consolidation is done, you can then choose which courier / shipper to use. I chose USPS Express (it was the 3rd cheapest, after TNT and DHL), but I didn't want any hassles with courier companies. My parcel shipped out on the afternoon of the 23rd May and I picked it up from the mail hub on the 29th May. The reason for me picking up the parcel was that there was no-one home the day before when SAPO tried to deliver it.

My experience with Shipito was very pleasant and I will definitely be using them again. USPS also impressed me as well due to Oregon not being close to any mail hubs (like California or New York).

I tracked my parcel using both USPS tracking as well as the new SAPO website (which is quite nice as you can enter your foreign tracking number and you get the local tracking number!).

I do have additional shipments that will be winging their way to Shipito's Oregon warehouse. I'll provide further updates on my experiences.

Will I use Gary and Postbox Courier when they're back? Most definitely, especially for their UK service. On that note, does anyone have any good experiences with other UK parcel forwarding companies?

That's the big question. I have a couple of items I would like to bring over but I've yet to hear of any such service. Granted I've also not searched that intensively.

I came across the following parcel forwarding companies in the UK (no idea on how good or bad they are!):

AlfaSent

Pass the Parcel

I've not heard good things about forward2me. :(

Stackry were pretty quick to dispatch, but haven't received my parcel yet. I did however choose the cheapest delivery option.

The difference for me was the package consolidation charge. On shipito you need to have a premium account as far as I can tell, which is a big commitment if it's a once off.

Edit.

Thanks. I noticed that too with Shipito.

Either way I see postbox courier is back

Where do you see this? When I log in, it still says Note: we'll be taking orders again soon, please check back in a few days.
