PostBox-Courier.com how to

No, agreed, his direct responses to email is really good, I can't fault it either. He's just not a forum type guy :)

Pity his US service is a tad slow, I may have been spoilt by DHL, I am used to a 3 day turnaround from the US, now I have to buy another item and ship it with DHL because the one that has been sitting there since Tuesday will probably take another 10 days to get here and I need it next week, sigh:cry:.

Not sure that's gonna work, hey.

I pointed Gary at the previous postbox-courier thread long time ago, but it seems he is not into forums.

Pity.

He's probably to busy working and sending out parcels to have time left to hang around on forums :? And is rather dealing with real(actual) problems as they pop up via email :?

And you missed the adding-value-to-his-business angle.

Ja it could add value ; but if he has 10/20/50 forums (other forums(computer-/photography-/book/cycle-forums)who would probably also want his personal attention and not only mybb (and then different forums in different country's as well))that he has to watch out everyday it can become a full time job.

Just an update on their delivery times from the US

I am still waiting for 2 parcels that were delivered to their US depot on the 8th. Called Berco this morning and they said they will invoice later today so I should get them tomorrow. Was going to show a comparison to DHL where a parcel I shipped with DHL on Friday has been cleared and ETA is later today when Berco rock up with the third parcel that Gary made a plan and shipped urgently for me on Friday and they have delivered this morning.

So one shipment delivery time 11 days and one 3 days.

Overall the process works and Gary is quick to offer advise and assistance via mail.

I am left with one major concern, but giving Gary some time to work on the issue.

The parcel ID is also the Berco parcel number but it only reflects once delivered, so I can see the delivered parcel but not the two that I am still waiting for, maybe they will reflect once invoiced.

update, yeh they now showing at airport on bercos tracking system with the parcel
ID

My Aussie parcel arrived today, super fast.
Another US one is taking its time, still a hit and a miss with the US shipping
Going to try UK soon.

A few hiccups here and there but Gary is really great in sorting issues out.

Do they rely on the SA post office at all?
Dont want the strike to mess up my delivery

nope, local courier is through Berco

Was quite impressed by Berco, a lady phoned me to confirm delivery address, which was a good thing, as I had given my work address, but was going to be at home that day, so gave her my home address.

I have shipped now a few items with them from all over, the only thing that irks or concerns me is that the goods are not insured on route so at the moment not shipping anything with a value over R3000. Parcels insured locally with Berco up to R3k, but on route 0. Otherwise a real nice service.

Best way would be to mail Gary and ask him. He's quick to reply and I'm sure he'll have an answer.

Also, do you mind sending me the links of the covers you bought? I also have a Nexus 4 and I'm not too fond of the official bumper I got with it.

Thanks for the link. I'll order one later today.

You'll get a reply tomorrow. Gary is probably taking a well earned break.

How long do u guys think it will take to ship?
Also what days of the week do they ship from USA?

and will they charge me customs on the covers also, since they are in the same package?

I haven't paid customs on anything yet... but SARS are unpredictable. They ship any day of the week afaik. Expect it by Friday IMO.

Do you guys find this service cheaper than normal shipping or is it simply convenient for those vendors who won't ship to SA otherwise?

I'd say it's more a convenience. You pay for shipping twice otherwise (domestic and international)

Guys i ordered the a nexus 4 and two covers for it and postbox courier said that its weight is 1.36kg and will cost me $39.1 !!!......wtf

How can that be,im sure a phone and two covers are not 1.36 kgs!!!

not sure what your issue is, price is under $40, that is cheap for international shipping.
even if the weight was logged in at 0.5kg it would be about the same price.
BTW phone in retail box with manuals plus 2 covers, surprised weight isn't around 2-3 kg.
