PostBox-Courier.com how to

Emailed Gary because something was delivered yesterday but no email or anything yet, he hasn't responded either.

I thought you guys said he gave quick feedback?

Emailed Gary WHEN?
He's in the UK - what time did you email?

yeh, also had a couple delivered yesterday, one logged in and one not

Its a bit of an erratic courier service from the USA, might still be labor pains from the recent move, or maybe its just the various time zones I dunno, but the US service is not that streamlined yet.

7.31PM last night.

Ok, so after hours his side. I imagine he would have relayed the message to his US office the next morning... and they may not have replied by his end of day. They come online at around 12-1pm ish his time. Have you heard from him yet?

Called him today and he said the goods go from Jersey to UK and then to SA so he'll have it tomorrow and me by latest Monday.

Hey Guys

My phone will be comming to JHB airport on friday via postbox courier.

2day gary the postbox guy asked me how much is the declared value for my goods.

I said $350..but i saw that customs actually charge you a 16.5% and a 7% on the goods.

Therefore is it still possible to change my declared value? and say its like $200

First time buyer much?

I don't recommend under declaring.
Sure, I know lots of people do, and a few times it slips through fine but if its stopped for inspection you will pay a hefty fine over and above the various duties.

No you don't seeing as it's not in the New York state any more.

Don't do it, you will be NAILED when customs opens it. It's illegal and you will be fined.

I imported a cheep Android tablet from China for R1,800 including shipping.
I know the Chinese like to under declare by default so explicitly told them to state the full amount on the invoice.
When it arrived they had under declared it anyway. Customs fined me R2,500 for it. I sent the proof that I requested they declare the full amount and they said it don't matter.
Pay the fine, pay for it to be sent back, or just walk away.

Yep, Supaswift aka Fedex messed up on a commercial invoice of mine for a netbook - they declared $1 for a $400 computer and I ended up paying $400 fine. Fortunately the company's money, not mine, but yeh - that's what happens.

They misread the 4 - it looked like a 1 followed by a ,
:wtf:

PostBox declared my goods as 250 pounds

The phone arrived at JHB airport on Thursday night. So how long does customs clearance usually take.

berco will phone you (probably Candice) to get approval for them to do the clearing and then it can take a day or two for clearing if it goes smoothly then you pay berco the clearing fees plus R150 for their fees and they deliver so you should have your parcel Tuesday/Wednesday.

Just a question- since Postbox Courier have moved their US depot to NJ, do you still pay the NY tax?

From what I can find the New York/New Jersey Cooperative Interstate Tax Program has been rescinded as of August 17, 2010. This tells me you should not be paying NY tax in NJ but I'm no expert so take what I say with a pinch of salt.

From what I can tell NJ could levy a Use Tax on out of state purchased items that you have to register like cars, bikes etc.

If you buy from Amazon they will collect taxes for Arizona, California, Kansas, Kentucky, New York, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Texas & Washington. Amazon will start collecting NJ taxes this year some time.
Some other online retailers might do the same so check their sites.
