Stackry was good. Chose cheapest delivery option, so waited a bit. 3 weeks from time of Amazon order. Was delivered via Europe. No delays on stackry's side

That was my experience. The actual transporting time was minimal.

Out of curiosity, what carrier used by Stackry mail. I see it's cheaper than USPS.
 
So I decided to use PostBox-Courier again for a UK shipment.

Today, the second delivery was attempted but without success. I'm hoping the guy was just on the John or out for lunch but when Gary replied to my email, he said he would check and get back to me.

I also used Stackry again for a 16 parcel consolidation shipment. Package left Friday night but so far I've heard nothing from the local yokels. I tried tracking this and dialled the number given of 011.961.6000 but I'm in a continuous loop. The shipping agent was USPS so unfortunately I have to wait for the SAPO to deliver.

I will update.

Update? Looking to order an electronic component from the states and investigating options.
 
Update:
The consolidation, payment and processing took under an hour. This was Friday a week ago night. Goods left the USA the next day (Saturday) and the Post Office okie dropped it off at my office on Thursday last week. Less than a week and I used the fastest USPS shipping option (2nd cheapest).

I have another package ready for consolidation later tonight once Stackry bring the last package into the system.

$200 shipping for approximately 7.3kgs including the consolidation fees for 16 parcels.
 
My stuff from the UK was ready to ship on Monday and I paid him then too. In the old days, the package would be at my office just after lunch the very next day.

Sadly nothing arrived today but I'm sure the buzzer will sound tomorrow.
 
Who do u pay the duty for goods to? The forwarder or the shipping company?
 
If the shipper pre-clears the goods, then you pay them. If for example, the shipper uses USPS, then the local Post Office will invoice you for the duties and VAT.

If Amazon ships to South Africa, you pay them for everything. BTW, the South African Post Office only charged me R37.00 to clear my last parcel. VAT was about R700.

Which is the better option? Prepay amazon? Is there a chance to get lucky and avoid duties/vat?
 
With Amazon, there's no option as you have to pay them upfront. With couriers it all depends but you won't get out of paying duties and VAT.

If the parcel value is under R500, it sometimes flies under the radar.

Funny mine too! In the old days the goods would be at my office the very next day but now it seems to take an extra two days.

Hope Gary finds a partner in the US soon.

Do you guys use the post-box courier (or stckry) option only when there is no option from the seller to ship to South Africa, or do you use it for all your shipments, even if there is shipping to SA?
I have noticed some shipping options from sellers on E-Bay can be rather expensive, so was wondering if its not better just to use a company lile post-box courier and ship everything through them. What do you guys think?
