PostBox-Courier.com how to

Anyone used Stackry Lately? Can't remember which shipping option to use that avoids the Post Office. But also looking for the cheapest option. Need to balance between the 2. Stackry has quoted me as follows:

FedEx Intl Priority
$271.38
Popular 2-5 Days Insurance: $1.25/$100 value $$$$$ High quality service

FedEx Intl Economy
$209.66
Very Popular 3-8 Days Insurance: $1.25/$100 value $$$$ Great reliability

USPS Express
$196.26
Popular 4-8 Days Insurance: $1.25/$100 value $$$$ Faster USPS Service

USPS Priority
$158.45
Very Popular 8-14 Days Insurance: $1.25/$100 value $$$ Reliable

DHL Worldwide Express
$234.24
Most Popular 3-8 Days Insurance: $1.25/$100 value $$$ Our most popular option

Which one should I go for? USPS Priority is the cheapest and looking like the most attractive, but not sure if the local Post Office will be involved, and if they might stuff things up. Please help! The package is 15 lbs (6.8kg).

Edit: (BTW - if anyone wants a Stackry referral link, send me a PM. You will get a $10.00 discount off your first shipment, and when you ship I will get $10.00 credited to my account to use for my next shipment. Win-win.)

Last time I used Stackry, both USPS and DHL were handled by SAPO. Things 'seem' better at the moment so maybe chance it? Just don't under-value your items on the manifest as this will affect a potential claim if the parcel is lost.

Thanks. How long ago was this?

Over a year ago. I only used Stackry whilst PBC were getting their USA depot sorted out. They were good though.

PBC now have collection points at petrol stations where you can retrieve your parcels at your convenience. Pretty cool if your work colleagues are too nosy and you don't want your wife to discover you just bought a new power tool.

Phenomenal delivery time with postbox-courier this week - parcel arrived at their NYC depot Tuesday this week, high value, received delivered to me today including all clearance fees, customs paid etc, two days later, incredible.
You can't get faster delivery time from USA!!

I've used PBC twice, one package from the US and one from the UK, and the service was superb and the price cannot be beat.

I'm emigrating to the US and flying out mid November - I've sold almost everything and have a few boxes of personal items left (no furniture etc.) that I'd like to ship.
I guess that a furniture moving company costs would be high, so was wondering what would be best, PBC, FedEx, UPS, or any other service - recommendations would be welcome.

Anyone know what the total cost might be for say a $300 phone from Amazon?

Anyone know what the total cost might be for say a $300 phone from Amazon?

You can work on
$300 x 1.15 = $345
$345 x 7% = $24.15
$345 x 14% = $48.30
$48.30 + $24.15 = $72.45
$72.45 x R14.41 = R1044 tax excluding shipping cost & insurance.
Amazon will charge you more tax and then you can try to claim it back.
(But by using Postbox courier, you might have a more accurate estimate)

For shipping
$41 x R14.41 = R590.81 (not sure what exchange rate they use)
Customs clearance
Depending on courier can be R150-R533
There is also a disbursement fee but it can vary.

So you can estimate about
R1044 + R590.81 + R300 = R1934.81

So for the phone including taxes and shipping you will pay about
$300 x R14.41 = R4323
R4323 + R1934.81 = R6257.81

You might also pay an additional 10% sales tax if shipped to the New York address or a state that imposes sales tax, just be aware. The South African tax will then be on the total price including the US taxes.

PBC has their Oz depot up and running again in Sydney and the Dubai facility will soon be live.
