Pots filter? How to install on my configuration?

Hi all,

I am having a problem with my phone sound quality being terrible only when the ADSL is on.

I only have the following box installed and then my ADSL modem and telephone being connected to it:

Now after Googling I found that I need a POTS filter.

But where would I install it?

Would I connect it to one of the 2 ports on the box above and then connect phone to the POTS filter?

You plug the POTS filter into any of the 2 Jacks (I assume it's 1 line, so it doesn't matter which one you use). The DSL Filter has a Jack for DSL and Phone. So you attach DSL to the DSL Jack of the Filter and the Phone/Fax to the Phone part.

It's really very simple.

If your filter only has a Jack for the Phone/Fax then you attach the Phone/Fax to it and the DSL Line straight into the empty Jack of the Telkom Box (not to the filter).

Exactly as you said. Make sure you get a filter with two ports, one labelled 'Phone' and one 'ADSL' (or similar). The DSL modem and phone go into the filter, and the filter into one of the ports in your picture. At least that's how mine's set up.

Thinking about it, I suppose you could get a phone-only filter and plug the DSL into its own port directly. I'm not 100% on this, but I'm sure someone will be around shortly to tell me whether I'm talking tolly.
