So is this card any good? What PSU would you need and what are the card's temps under load.


Not finding much on the interwebs about this particular card
 
The card is good (ie it gives good fps) but otherwise it sucks. Its really power hungry, really expensive, and really loud. If those three things dont bother you then its a great card. Otherwise you are better off going for a HD5870, or maybe even the HD5970

Go for it alan the card is a monster dude, bare in mind you will need superb cooling for it. The air is cool now but in the coming months the air is not going to be cold and then the trouble starts. So you will need very decent cooling and if your pc sits in a room where the temp can hit 25-30 in summer i am not sure how it will cope.
 
Well at that price you only have power and heat to worry about... what case do you have?
 
Get a aftermarket cooler :) , you can play with a custom fan profile like i did and it never went above 85C when gaming, Now i got myself a Gelid Icy Vision. Gaming never goes above 55C and on MSi afterburner max i got is 66C, running stock clocks though.
Any 650W and up PSU should be fine.

EDIT: Those temps are with an ambient of 21C and my Case is an Antec P193 :D
 
I decided against it. I've had problems in the past with components that run hot. DOn't want to run the risk.

Out of interest what kind of heat would say a pair of 460s in SLI produce?
 
They get to around 75 degrees

edit: 73 degrees as reported here. 1gb versions run hotter at around 90 degrees if you were wondering

Have you bothered to even check the review link..., in any case whats 10C? Certainly better than the GTX480's

Yes, and that review has temps at 66 and 71 degrees for each of the GPUs. Have you bothered to read any other reviews, such as the one I linked? And 10 degrees is a lot, especially when summer rolls around and you have 30 degree ambient instead of 20 degrees (for those people without AC).
 
Archer even then those cards are in no danger of overheating, seems your posts are leaning more towards personal attacks than insightful information to the OP

Another thing about SLI what exactly happens with the ram? Are the two amounts combined or not. If not won't say 768mb bottleneck the cards at higher resolutions. How does XP see it. As 768mb of your ram used up or 1536mb?

Alan Afaik the ram gets mirrored, but im not sure if XP will see the total amount or the 768MB
