Power to the router

Hi all,

So i have the fibre but now i need to keep it on during loadshedding.

Bought a Romoss 20000 power bank :) and thought my problems are gone.

Plugged in the bank into my Vuma box and then into my Dlink Dir 825, got power lights but nothing else lights but the occasional flashing of lights on the dlink box.

Tried the bank and same cables on a friends fibre and it works. He has almost the same setup as me.

Please help guys. :)

Does your router and vuma box run off 5v power..???

Your power bank can only output 5v per usb port.. typically routers and such run off 12v....

His power bank outputs this:
5V 2.1A | 5V 1A | 2.1A

9, 12, 15, 24V

The one I quoted has adjustable voltage up till 24V.

He can built himself a step up converter, but then he could have just built everything from scratch as well. His current setup just isn't going to work.

Edit: I would try to return it to takealot and ask for a credit to buy the top one.

They don't have something explicit for power electronics that I could see, to be excluded in the change your mind section.

Not sure about the Vuma box but isn't the D-link 12v?
 
Some routers are 19VDC or even 24VDC, most being 12VDC from my experience though.

Get a 17Ah battery with a gate-motor type battery charger and run the router off that.
