I recon anything above 90km/h wind speed and they shut down to protect the generator and gearbox from exploding.

Should be the same. Angular velocity is basically just the difference in angle between two points divided by the difference in time. The angle doesn't change and neither does the time...

I mean the inner connecting part of a blade vs the outer end, like how a whip's end can reach the speed of sound so makes a crack noise.

This is the reason why the blades get chewed up so quickly. Imagine hitting dust at 800km/h?

It does, have you ever heard the sound of the Huey helicopter? That distinct thump it makes is the tips breaking the sound barrier. It's not going to be a boom all the time.

Sure, but I haven't heard a wind turbine make those sounds.

It's all about awareness and pushing local generation.
Much cheaper to generate the electricity where it will be used than to have to build massive connections all over the show

I'm pretty sure this would be even cheaper, as said, if there's no wind on the day, you anyway need a backup.
