It is a bit of a thumbsuck as it's in regards to cancers caused, but I mean you can't really say what is and what isn't
Exactly.

Life is full of risk and some undesired need for balance. Snowflakes like to count.

What do you think is the correct balance for human deaths per energy produced?
As few as possible.

That has to include a reality check - we can't just stop pollution, we're too primitive.
And this country's too small to make enough difference... although doesn't mean we mustn't apply the brakes either.
And we have the ANC in charge, so all bets are off anyway.

If you've been convinced about the sudden supposed world ultra emergency you won't agree of course.

As few as possible means that pollution ends, it means that this is exempted.

If you've been convinced that humans can keep polluting like they are now then you won't agree of course.

The other issue is sanctions for the polluting nations. So keep on like we do now and see the outcome.

Until you deal with reality there can be no practical argument.
The reality is that SA`s fossil burning is already at a damaging unsustainable level and causing thousands of deaths that could have been avoided. There is no other arguments besides this.

Agree with all but the bold word. In time that should change too though.

We could argue all day, in the end you'll still trust your camp and we'll trust ours. And the ANC means ours will likely win anyway... sad way to achieve reality but there you have it.

Re this edit of yours - hardly something to fear at this stage as there's no major action, especially with our very damaged economy which needs a local production boost and less of too-expensive import options.
We also did quite well in the past when we were sanctioned.

Well I got my 10am slot sigh, today would've been a LS free day

Had all of ours.
Tomorrow is free for us; partly why I expect an announcement ;- )
That and the initial 5 degree drop for Soweto

SO2 emissions cause respiratory diseases (asthma and emphysema), not cancer. The numbers are estimates, but the methodology is well established by the WHO, etc:
Air pollution is the one of the greatest environmental threats to human health and is responsible for about 7 million deaths each year globally.

And from 2016:

Thanks for that, good to know

Pffft..
Bad for Darkst0rm, that's equal to 2 degrees for him.

BTW, cloud cover revealed so far for Monday between 7% and 18%
That's way less then before. Though this July has been far warmer then most, fireplace has been used once

I think for our altitude about 13 feels borderline, 15+ good enough. We prefer 17+
