Yup Eskom, you'd think they would just keep maintenance low until they could actually get something working out of the 16GW broken right?
if they do that the 16GW will just get larger as more and more units collapse. The current fleet must be maintained. Especially considering they run for something like 90% of the time where the world average is something more like 75%.

The current fleet is 50GW. 16GW is working.

I think you are being a bit dramatic, I thought you referred to in the earlier post that 16GW is the coal generation. So excluding power generation from the likes of the Ingula dam (hydropower). Eskom says about 25-26GW was produced tonight (excl. OCGTs).

Long story short. When the current "Government" took over they did not take the advice from the old Apartheid government and plan for more power stations, but rather saw the tax payers money and decided it was partly time.

The government were warned about the power issue years before it happened. There was a report and white paper that that said if they did nothing - LS would start in 2007/8.

The president at the time dismissed it and said there’s nothing to worry about.

Its the air cons, thats why demand is so high at midday
All ac must have ripple meters and be minimum 18 degrees

Yet stage 5 LS, the 11 OCGTs should've made it stage 3 at most. Those numbers don't make sense, also does show that as soon as stage 4 is gone over demand goes up. There's no way in hell 30GW demand was needed.
Also in the past 30GW with 25GW available would have been stage 4 at most
