This is maintenance only at the end of next year so not a break down.Koeberg reactor has to be taken offline for another 200 days
Whatever that involves, more less-than-normal activity.
Sorry, can't understand anyone trusting seriously sensitive public tech in this country.
Those okes in the Free State that think everything is for Free...![]()
Eskom debt dire | News24
As far as their Eskom account is concerned, only two out of 19 municipalities in the Free State are debt free.www.news24.com
Bolt, jellyfish and aluminium ladder.I remember the "bolt", the "jellyfish" and recently, a "fault" that tripped the reactor a week or 2 after refuelling. There might have also been a transmission fault with the power lines tripping the station, so 4 times in its history.
I think we were looking beyond breakdowns. However if all these other incidents are normal, then more to worry about IMHO - we don't do good maintenance here. This is maintenance only at the end of next year so not a break down.
Can't remember that one, is that the "transmission" fault I'm thinking of?Bolt, jellyfish and aluminium ladder.
Could be. There was maintenance being done at Koeberg and someone left behind an aluminium ladder leaning against a transformer. When they switched the unit back on, the ladder tripped the entire unit. Can't remember that one, is that the "transmission" fault I'm thinking of?
I'm not sure what you're on about. Koeberg has worked faultlessly since the 80's bar 3 incidents. It's now going through a life extension upgrade which will take 2 years. They are busy with the first unit now since January. It is expected to be finished in Aug which is when they will start on the other unit which will take about a year. When that is done they are going back to the first unit to fix problems they found with the foundations due to it being nearly 50 years old which they can't do now because they can't multi task.I think we were looking beyond breakdowns. Yeah, so all the breakdowns have been due to incompetence, not because of unreliability, they all happened when it was down for maintenance bar the jellyfish, but even that one was suspect and am sure if we knew the truth would also have been someones ****up.Could be. Lots of pressure out there.Thread is a day old and already 8 pages long lol
For the doubters
Theoretically Koeberg should almost never break down. Yet every few weeks..
Sound like ingredients for a witches' brew...Bolt, jellyfish and aluminium ladder.
Maaaaaybe 4/5 if they can get generation up to 27GW, but as long as the temps are low, 6 will be a permanent fixtureSo any chance of coming off stage 4/6 during week....ever?
