“Russia must not feel belittled if it so happens that their president does not come because South Africa is a signatory to the ICC. It is what it is. They can still participate in the Brics forum and that’s what’s important, so it shouldn’t change anything,” said Mbalula.

Control of pissing off their voters when they switch the power off?
If it hasn't been clear in the past, let me say again, they don't care about voters. It doesn't matter how many voters they lose or piss off. 100% of south africa can vote against anc, and anc will still remain in power. ANC will NEVER hand over power. Its never going to happen, ever. Until jesus comes and all that. The day they lose is the day SA and the world discovers there is no democracy here, just like places china, russia, india, brazil etc all with questionable non existent 'democracy' pretending to be democracy with 'voting' (oh look at that, those are our brics partners, huh, merely a coincidence no doubt, we still get to vote, nothing to see here).

I would like to see them try.

Coalitions will slowly start to move things forward.
ANC don't have the power to stop change, look at their army. Not like the Zim situation was.

Yes, so why not burn diesel and end loadshitting?
As said, money. They just had to go cap in hand for more and quite frankly the amount is NOT a lot even though it looks like it, not at the amount of fuel those OCGT's burn. Also stock. It must be a logistical nightmare getting that much fuel around. I think the one station has dedicated pipes directly from a refinery.

And these things are NOT meant to run 24/7.

They can run 24/7, but it's expensive. Though if they were converted to CCGT and ran on natural gas they could be apart of the fleet all the time, the UK does this, so does Germany.

Yep. The SAPS and SANDF are but a shadow of their own, former selves.

Communities like Orania will be the way things will be going.

They can but they are meant to be used a peak units, also most generators ( which is basically what these are ) require very regular maintenance to run at peak. I may be missing it but I have never seen them talk about OCGT maintenance.

They do the maintenance, was one of the reasons we went to stage 6 during summer. Almost 40% of UK power is from CCGTs

Robbing Peter to pay Paul... run the OCGT's at the expense of something else, which'll become apparent later on...
Weren't running on Friday or Saturday?

Also coal generation hit 21 a few times there.

Can't believe that Millennial-type concept, based on the ideal that we'd be getting rid of greedy governments. Problem is that all groups & communities need.... governance.
